HOWEVER, these were not as "easy" to trim to size. I followed directions correctly and it was still difficult. Once the blinds were trimmed to the correct size, you put a cap on the bottom edge. Well, I trimmed my blinds to the exact size to fit snug with minimal space on each side to keep the light from coming through. The caps they gave you add just enough length that it made the blinds not fit and get stuck. I tried to trim the window down a smidge more but forget it. If you don't cute these to the correct length the first time, it's almost impossible to make and adjustments.
On top of this annoying issue, the adhesive DOES NOT WORK. Every few days the blinds were hanging down from one side. I did EVERYTHING to get them to stay. Over time and after one completely fell off in the middle of the night, I gave up. I ended up having to nail the top piece into my frame. Yes, my frame width is more than the recommended size for these blinds. Now one of the blind's base is cracked and chipped from it falling off completely and slammed into the floor. CHEAP PLASTIC. CHEAP AND WORTHLESS ADHESIVE.
Lastly, they are warped at the bottom. I am not sure if this is due to them detaching on one side often, but I did notice they did not lay perfectly flat while being inside the frame when first installed.
Overall the only positive thing I can say about these is they block out everything. Almost too well. But I spent $100 for two blinds that now look funky and are a piece of junk. I could have easily spent $100 and got much nicer blackout blinds.
Save your money, look elsewhere and find a nicer set.
Theres two reasons Id give these only 4/5 stars.
First, I have four of these and one has come unstuck and fallen off the window after about 2 weeks of use. No big deal though, I just put some command strips on it and put it back up. Other reviewers have suggested screwing them in which would also work, but isn't as renter friendly.
Second, the 30in size is only actually 29inches wide, so if you have a 30in wide window you'll end up having half an inch gaps on either side of the blind which can let in quite a bit of light, so if you have 30in wide windows I'd suggest splurging on the larger size and cutting it to exactly 30 if you want to most effectively block out light with no gaps. In the same vain, the measurements printed on the blinds that indicate where to cut them are skewed half an inch. For example, if you have a 28in wide window and cut at the 28in mark on each side of the blind, the blind will actually end up measuring 27.5 once cut. Again, if you seriously want blackout with no gaps, I'd suggest cutting to the 28.5in mark on the blind to get a tight fit with no gaps.
Love everything about them...ease of installation, blackout feature, ease of use and maintenance and still look pretty but for adhesion issue from the first. Adding more adhesive, trying double sided tape, super glue, NONE of it worked. Everytime I think my "fix" did the trick I am back to squre one two days later.
It is not the window frame but the adhesive used by the company as it is always the same, but different location on each shade, that start to sag a couple days later and my fixes are still attached to window sash/frame.
I bought 2 and I am on a fixed income so buying new ones not an option at this price. I have also wished the company offered a fix.
Additionally they are easy to use, but it lost two stars because they perform like $60 window shades.
The Adhesive hardly worked, fell off within 24 hours each time they were mounted, I ended up screwing them in and the adhesive areas were still drooping between the screws--going to add more screws, those aren't noticeable. They don't stay all the way in the up position on one of two sets one side droops down a little, and its clear its made of very cheap materials. Overall there work well on a budget--but you may want to exercise caution with adhesive--it won't work, instead plan on using something like dual lock or a heavy weight adhesive on them, or plan on screwing them in, I used 4 #8 3/4" screws and have had minimal issues since.
Top reviews from other countries
Update - the Natural model I got thankfully broke (snapped string) recently after few months. Purchased the White model and it works much better, now properly pulls down all the way, and color is much better. Think the prior one I got was defective. Would recommend screwing in the top lip to your wall as adhesive is not strong enough.
When trimming the piece to size, you're suppose to measure in 3 places of the window and use the smallest measurement. I used the guide on the piece and cut to my size on the one end, found that it was a bit too long (the guide says to trim on both sides). Had I gone ahead and trimmed the 2nd side according to the guide, my blinds would not have been able to cover my entire window and light would have peeked out from the side. Therefore, please make sure once you trim the one side, measure again with your tape measure to make sure you are actually cutting to the size required.
I used a serrated knife like a breadknife to cut. It was easy enough however did produce the nail on chalk board noise. Brutal, but over with in seconds once you persevere through it. :)
We are in the process of returning this hunk of junk. Save your money and buy something that is better quality. Thank goodness Amazon is so amazing about their return policy. They get a 5 star for that.
I bought the blackout type as it is for a bedroom. Trimming was a bit of a task as I did not have a sharp enough knife and I had to trim a couple of times to get the right fit. The edges were a little ragged but covered easily with the end cap and I put the trimmed edge facing away from the side that is viewed from the door, although when installed you couldn't tell anyway.
One thing I would mention is to buy a length that is at least 6" longer than the window as when you pull it down it tends to spring up so you need to be able able to pull it down longer then set it on the window ledge so not to get light in. The adhesive so far has stayed in place. Some reviews said it would not stick well but this is not so for me. I made sure I pressed it tight several times and let it sit for a while before pulling the blind down. I am a 76 year old female and found this to be a very easy process. Happy with my new blind, would buy again.
The blinds were very easy to install.
They block light very very easily.
The Meh -
The cutting process wasn't great. The plastic is very brittle and started to split at the bottom. However it wasn't anything that was too noticeable and the plug prevents it from being a major issue.
The Bad -
This is a 60" blind It claims to be 60"- 64" It is technically that size how ever you will not get it to get to that length. It was place in a 58" square window and could not reach the bottom and stay at length pulling up about 3 inches. Which means it can not effectively cover more than 55" 9" less than is claimed. That is a significant difference. I was prepared for that, as such I am satisfied with it however if you need it in a window longer than 55" the blind does not have enough weight at the bottom to counter the pull of the accordion design initially. Had the pull back been another inch I may have been looking for a refund.
The Unknown - as it uses adhesive I do not know how long or how well it will hold. I have had issues in the past with even 3M adhesive not standing up to the wild and varied temperature and humidity changes in Niagara.
The Missing the Cut Guide was missing from the package making sizing it a little more difficult particularly at just a 2" trim.
