I've been looking for a mini magnifier to carry in my handbag and selected this item. What I like about it is the light and different levels of magnification. I was easily able to see and read very tiny instructions on several items I own. My only criticism is this items is a bit thick (the thickness of a pen). I'm going to try and keep this in my handbag to read menu's and tiny instruction manuals.

This is just what I needed. Something small and that can be easily carried in a pocket or purse. The dual magnification is useful, and I expect the the 3 X magnification section will be mostly used; it works well on most items needing a quick read, such as a bill, a menu or most mail. To read a book I would use something larger with a 4 X magnification, at least for my vision. The device also helps me on the few occasions when I need to check my cell phone.

The small LED light worked fine for me so far and really only useful in a dark environment. In a well lit room I doubt it would be needed.

Overall, this small magnification device is useful and very practical.

Three months later.
The device worked well until it needed new batteries. I was expecting an easy, straight forward way of doing this, specially after reading the questions and answers pages. Not so. As soon as I opened the case the switch parts flew out; trying to replace the batteries appeared impossible without damaging the device. The switch described in the questions about pulling out a spring to remove the batteries was not accessible or visible. Forcing the batteries out would have damaged irreperably its location holder. Reassembling the very small switch components was not possible without a detailed drawing and instructions - even so, it would be hard to keep the switch parts in place while assembling the unit's case.

I wish to add therefore to my original review. It was accurate - that is until new batteries were needed.

This is still a good magnifying and reading device, convenient and easy to use...But, when its batteries were were used up, it would be used with good external lights or a flashlight.
