I just received my OEM Trackball/navigate/pearl/ring repair replacement fix for my (Blackberry Pearl 8130) today Feb 7,2011. And my Blackberry works like it's brand new I've heard that the Trackballs get dirty and stop working after some many uses, I've only have my Phone for about 6 months and I had to clean the Trackball often and change the Trackball settings in order for the ball to work but then it got to a point to where the ball just didn't want to work at all no matter how much I clean it or change the settings so I come to Amazon because I've heard that they have everything!! And I run across the OEM Trackball replacement fix for the blackberry pearl 8120/8130 it was only $ 1.47 as first I wasn't sure if i should order it or not or would it even work correctly as but once I got it and place it into my phone and snap the little chrome ring on and I was breezing thru my phone's menu and programs with no problem this OEM TRACKBALL WORKS 100 TIMES BETTER THEN THE FACTORY TRACKBALL THAT COME WITH THE PHONE!! If any of you have a blackberry pearl I was really look into getting this quick and easy fix it's really cheap and it works perfect!!!

Prior to purchasing this, I've always removed the trackball assembly to clean everything out. It worked okay for a while but the problems kept on coming back. The ball had worn out to the point where there was not enough friction.

Well I decided to buy this item and let me tell you this. Those who are on the fence about it, BUY IT. It's so cheap to buy that you have nothing to lose. All the times I spent on cleaning the assembly was just a waste of time. It's been a few months but so far my phone still feels new.

I tried to fix it by placing a rubber band around the phone to hold the rim but had no success(I'm sure you've tried this). We looked at prices from the mobile store and were too expensive. During our weekly staff meeting the other day I was having a little trouble with the trackball on my BlackBerry 8800. Skipping, sticking, jumping, it just wasn't performing the way it used to. Thousands of games of BrickBreaker had clearly taken its toll.

The economy has been rough lately so the company is really watching the bottom line. Staff reductions, pay cuts...they're only emptying the trash twice a week now and I've noticed a lower grade toilet paper in the restroom. My boss has been all over me about my expense reports ever since that massage parlor incident in Tijuana so there was no way I was going to slip a new 8800 past him.

What was I to do? I certainly wasn't about to spend my own money on a new BlackBerry. I went back to my desk and while surfing the web and mulling over my options I stumbled across a story about a guy who got a face transplant. A face transplant!? Can you believe it!? Holy Cow! They replaced his face...wait a minute... maybe I can just replace the TRACK BALL !!

But who could teach me the techno-surgical techniques of BlackBerry trackball replacement and where could I get a new one? The answer of course could be found on the internet. I know for a fact you can find anything on the internet.

People love to post helpful videos on Youtube. I am grateful for their wisdom and willingness to share. Let's see, removing pet stains from carpets, no. Replacing rear deck speakers in a Saturn SL, no thanks. Beijing Chicken Recipe, hmmm... Here it is... replacing the trackball in your BlackBerry!

Now to find the new trackball! In the dark ages of human interaction before the internet I could have driven around wasting gas and checking out every mall kiosk that sells those cheap plastic phone covers. But no more! I found this miraculous little pearl of a device right here on the internet and had it shipped to my home for a ridiculously low price. It took about one minute to pop out the old ball and pop in the new one.

So I bought this because my old trackball decided to fall out and all the scrollers fell out as well. It's pretty cheap. We have to understand that this isn't an OEM replacement but a third party so it's not gonna be perfect. The ball feels a little gritty but it's just something you have to get use to. It will probably become smoother later on after repeated use. When I installed this into my 8120, it would barely scroll up or down. I had to spend about 5 mins getting to the settings and change the vertical sensitivity of the trackball for it to be similar to the old one. Even though it's closer to normal, it's still not that great as when I scroll up or down it tends to scroll the opposite direction at times. A little inconvenient but nonetheless it works. So if you are having problems with scrolling try setting the sensitivity first before you say it's not good.
