Perfect for smashing burgers and keeping bacon flat
My husband requested a cast iron burger press for Christmas. When I saw this rectangular burger press, I thought it was awesome that it also came with a round press that he might like when cooking bacon in our cast iron skillet. The presses are sturdy and durable with smooth wooden handles. They are easy to clean, season, and maintain. They are perfectly weighted for keeping burgers from shrinking and bacon from curling. (The rectangular press can be used to keep weight on burgers or to press down on a burger patty to make a smash burger.) The round press measures 7 inches in diameter and keeps bacon flat in our 10.25" skillet, creating crisp bacon with no chewy bits. (The round press does not cover bacon slices entirely, but it did not hinder the result. We cooked center-cut bacon, which is even shorter than other cuts of bacon.) The round press is too big for our 8" skillet and too small for our 10.25" skillet; I think it would fit perfectly in a 9" cast iron skillet.Overall, if you need a cast iron press for a grill, griddle, or cast iron pan, this set provides two options (rectangle and circular) at great value.
