Inkjet printers use ink at variable rates, the commonality is that when you need the printer most you are in danger of running out of ink. The high capacity 97 cartridge still runs out, it's just that you have more time between changes.
I use my printer for printing church bulletins and CD labels for sermons we mail out. My predominant use is black ink, that's why I like the long-life tank.
Amazon has a great price for the 97 cartridge and when you add free shipping and no sales tax it can't be beat.

This misses out on a 5 star review simply because of the continuing high prices of ink. That being said, I can't complain about these cartridges. The high capacity of this cartridge is great when doing large volume printing. The shelf life of these cartridges is also to be mentioned as I have used cartridges that have been almost 6 months past their stamped expiry date and had no problems with them. The long shelf life also means you can stock up when you find them on sale.

I've never had clogs in my printer heads from using these cartridges nor have I had any major printing quality problems. One issue which also happens with the color cartridges is that from time to time as the cartridge approaches empty it will print lightly or in "bands" even though the printer says there is still sufficient ink left. Not a big issue as by this point the cartridge only has 10-20 pages left in it anyway.

The only thing I hate, and I don't think its the fault of this cartridge is the printer head cleaning I always seem to have to do after swapping cartridges... Feel like I'm wasting ink... Oh well. Believe me; I have tried to find generic ink for my Epson Printer. So far it all ends up clogging up the print heads right in the middle of something important and with no time to spare. The genuine ink almost never has a problem. The only problem is that it’s very expensive, 75.00 dollars for a full recharge. It’s bad, especially with 2 young adults in school.
I don’t know why but I don’t have nearly as many problems with clogged heads anymore since I don’t shut the machine off. This has definitely helped, but I can’t explain why.
Ink is too expensive; however Epson ink tends to works reliably.

If you are buying printer cartridges and Amazon gives you a deal at the bottom of the screen in the category of “Frequently Bought Together” suggesting the other cartridges you might also want to buy, BE SURE to check that the other cartridge they being suggested actually works with your printer. I bought a set of color cartridges, then Amazon suggested a black ink cartridge and I am now stuck with this cartridge that does not work with my printer because I assumed that if they were suggesting it, they knew it would fit. My bad, I know, but I a sure there are others out there who might not check.

so -- i could not print anything... I bought this nice extra high capacity cartridge and installed it. I still could not print anything. Turns out, if your color cartridges are empty the printer will stop printing B&W. I bought (begrudgingly) color cartridges and it printed. I put in my old B&W cartridge, and it printed. Great! When my color cartridges ran out, I discarded (dropped on the driveway repeatedly) this printer and bought a B&W laser printer... I love it. Buy one.
