Just love it!
Best electrical device I have ever purchased from Amazon.com! Should have ordered this a year ago. Wanted to reduce my electrical bill and water consumption. This surely has reduced my electrical bill significantly. The intake cold water to this unit comes directly from my showerhead pipe (just twist off your present showerhead and install a flexible hose in its place). The output hot water from this unit goes directly to another flexible hose with a showerhead at the end. For my needs, since I only need warm water, this is ideal. Keep in mind one thing, after you use up the 4 gallons of stored heated water, the subsequent outflow and water temperature are directly related. That is, for a given output flow rate (via the showerhead), the water temperature of that outflow will be constant. Mathematically, water output flow rate is inversely proportional to the water temperature. That is, for a given flow rate, there is a unique temperature associated with that outflow. So, if you are like me and can be satisfied with a low outflow (like maybe a low-to-medium drizzle), then the outflow temperature will be constantly somewhere, I think, around 90 degrees F. If you can shower with even less of an outflow, then the water temperature will be proportionately hotter. If you require a greater water outflow, the outflow water temperature will be cooler. You need to experiment with what works for you. But for me, this is the find of the decade!Another BIG reason I got this thing was to give me the option of being able to power this unit via solar PV. So if I choose to, I can connect my Goal Zero Yeti 1500X generator (via a 50 foot 1600w capacity spooled extension cord. See the attached photo) and the power demand for a 15 minute warm water shower at a reasonable flow rate (definitely not Niagra Falls kind!) is about 375wH. That's only 375 watt-hours of power which is only 25% of the 1500wH capacity of the 1500X. Regardless, the unit is so efficient, I am just thrilled. I see why Bosch has sold so many of these units! So if you're wondering what I am doing with my existing 30 gallon electric water heater, it is still in place but my Gray Box has all the pins removed so the heater does not turn on. I just regularly turn on the hot water knob when using the tap water to make sure that I keep water flowing through the electric water heater so things don't cake up in there.
