I have been looking for a warm boot for some time and have returned several pairs to different places.
Finally, I ordered two pairs of Uggs with Prime’s try before you buy. I kept the black pair as they are more versatile with what I wear. I would highly recommend these boots. Even though they are more expensive than other brands, they are worth every penny.

I was told by the company website to order the next size lower if you are a half size normally. Unless I trim my toenails extremely tight the day I wear them, they hurt.

I definitely recommend going for a 10 if you are a 9.5. Maybe the advice the company gives is for the smaller sizes.
