    I recently did a trip with another car of friends and we used this handset to communicate between cars. The radio had clear transmission one of many combinations of channels and codes to be sure we were the only ones we heard and bluetooth capability to sync it to an ease bud so I could speak without bring the radio to my head.

    Price is good for a bluetooth capable radio, and quality of sound was very clear from 500 ft up to 1 mile away. We never got further than that, but a mile was very clear.

    I bought these specifically for use with the smartphone app. In principle, this provides functionality such as locating your partner on a map on your smartphone, even when out of cellular range. I have encountered some issues with the app. I might end up returning these but I'll keep them for a little while to see if they work well enough in this mode to be useful. But if you're considering these for the smartphone-connected functionality, beware - it appears problematic.     I purchased these Walkie Talkies to be able to talk after a hurricane and in a power outage. My parents live approximately 10 miles driving time. We tested them with me driving in car down a straight road away from them and lost connection less than a mile unfortunately. Drove a different direction same thing. I really wanted these to work but had to return.
