4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 453 ratings

Since Pro basketball player Ty “Pretty Boy” Washington picked up a basketball, he’s only ever wanted one thing: to make it to the pro league and win championships. As the number one pick in the draft, he defies the odds in his rookie year by beating the record of one of the greatest players in the league, Sid “The Wonder Kid” King.

For years, Ty has looked forward to playing in the same league as Sid, the epitome of success. What he doesn’t expect is their intense chemistry or how Sid is the only person who can see that he’s barely hanging on.

At the top of his game, Sid is well on his way to becoming a legend. Voted the Sexiest Man Alive with a reputation as a ladies’ man, he seems to have it all. When he sees for the first time the undeniably talented rookie with soulful yet sad eyes, long-buried feelings surface.

Loving the Legend is book 1 in the MM sports romance Chasing Rings series. Each book ends with a HEA, can be read as a stand-alone, and features a new couple. Themes include two MCs from rival teams turned lovers, grief/trauma, hurt/comfort, hidden relationships, possessiveness, found family, and more. Both MCs are consenting adults.

An AMAZING debut

An AMAZING debut
Below are my spoiler free honest thoughts.Loving the Legend is the first book in the Chasing Rings series and Kit's debut novel. This book is single POV which is not my favourite way to read a romance but I loved it. I won't lie, I now need this book from Sids POV.Grief/Trauma were explored and I definitely rubbed my heart a few times. But Kit explored the themes so well whilst advocating for therapy but sharing that it wasn't as simple as that for Ty.I was rooting for Ty and Sid to have a HEA and would love bonus content or for them to appear in later books so we know if Tys dream came true. The side characters in Loving the Legend were amazing and most of them deserve their own books. I definitely want to know more about Adam, Kieran and Tommy.Things I loved🏀 Found Family🏀 Basketball🏀 Big issues🏀 Spice and Plot🏀 EpilogueI'm looking forward to more books from Kit Grey.

I am going to try to put my feelings for Ty and Sid and their story into words. I doubt I do them justice.

First, this is Kit’s DEBUT?!? The writing is just so beautiful and flows so smoothly. I felt everything I think I was meant to feel. I laughed and cried. The spice was 🥵 And oh did I swoon.

Ty’s grief was immense and his struggle with depression was heartbreaking and so real. My heart hurt for him so much, even when I was frustrated with him. I was so happy to see him finally take his mental health seriously and do the work to start the healing process. Ty must be protected at all costs.

Sid is literal perfection. He is one of the most supportive, kind, and generous characters I’ve ever read. I don’t have a single bad thing to say about my newest book boyfriend. He deserves all that’s good in the world.

I really love how the relationship between Ty & Sid was built first on mutual respect, then friendship, before they became lovers. It felt very organic.

There are so many amazing side characters in this book! The guys’ families are so full of love and support for both of them. And each of them have some really amazing teammates, too.

I’m very much looking forward to the next book in the series!

As always, check CW!

I want to start this review by saying that this book was extremely well written. This was the makings of a five star read, absolutely incredible. Bravo! With that being said I could not give this book 5 stars and I will tell you why. This book was entirely too long. This book is about 500 pages and it could have been 200 pages less. You can tell that either this author is a love of the game of basketball or they did a lot of research, however the amount of detail surrounding the game aspect of Basketball. It dragged for me and was difficult to process and or care, I did skim about 30% of this book unfortunately due to that and the inner dialogue and flashbacks. I appreciated the mental health representation. It was very authentic but again it read a lot like a manual/scripted or infomercial like around certain topics and discussions such sexuality , mental health, etc.

This was honestly one of the most beautiful, realistic steamy romance books I have read in a while. I adored Sid and Tyler I thought they’re struggles were accurately portrayed. The intimate scenes in moments were beautiful their banter and relationship and emotional connection all around was just A+++ for me.

Wow, where do I even start with Loving The Legend? This review may be a bit scatterbrained because this book had me thinking and feeling A LOT! First thing, it was so beautifully written. I refused to believe this was a debut novel with how flawless it is. This is natural talent and I’m so happy Kit Grey decided to put pen to paper because it’d be tragic to not have this book out in the world.

Every character served a purpose and enhanced the story just that much more. It’s rare for me to not have complaints about at least one supporting character, but these were completely perfect. Sid and Ty though, my goodness. Those boys are everything. Both are incredibly sweet and thoughtful. Ty’s the “broken” boy with heart eyes, while Sid is the possessive guy with BDE wanting to mend those broken pieces. Where they’re most similar is their haunted pasts and how much hurt they carry, buried deep down.

The mental health representation LTL gives us, mind blowing. I’m not sure I’ve ever felt so seen. It was nailed so accurately from every aspect. You could feel the visceral emotions from all parties and it honestly stole my breath at times. Being able to experience someone else having my same thoughts and then getting the chance to witness the other person’s reactive response while not being in that dark space myself? It was pretty damn eye opening.

The amount of healing that this book discussed and displayed had a uniquely magical way of soothing something even within me. I can’t stress enough how much this can potentially touch every person out there. Whether or not you love MM romance or basketball, this book is SO much more.

Friends…this story is nothing that I was expecting and everything that I love about being surprised by when picking up a book.

You can tell right off that the friendship between Ty and Sid is going to be different. They have this immediate connection that is so simplistic in nature because it just IS. Watching them cultivate and grow into something so deeply intimate - first as friends and then more just pulled at my heart the entire book.

There are hurdles - They’re both coming to terms with their trauma and Ty is learning how to love himself and in turn, let himself be loved by others. And the way Sid loves...Idk man, I think he might be my book husband. How do I at least become his best friend? He is the man they're talking about when they say 'books give women high expectations' bc if a man in real life isn't saying to me "our family will find refuge in our union" then I.Don't.Want.Him. This isn’t just 2 people falling in love, this is the sigh of relief in knowing you found the soul who complements your own.

This is a sports romance, and there's a lot of basketball talk. It plays a big part in the storyline, obviously - but don’t let that deter you. The sportsball is intertwined with story and character development - so for me, a non-sportsball person, it didn’t seem like too much. There's literally nothing I didn't love about this book...it's found family at its best, the mental health rep is so realistic and relatable, the characters are people I wish I knew in real life - and their chemistry is off the charts.

I didn't expect this from a debut...I didn't expect this from a sports romance. Now my heart is all tangled up and my feelings are big any time I start thinking about their story again. It's only January but I know with absolute certainty that this will be one of my favorite books of the year - and one that I will reread continually.

I loved this book so much! The writing is fantastic. It draws you in from the first few paragraphs and doesn't let go. I truly didn't want to stop reading. The characters and their story was so enthralling that I was a bundle of pure emotions. There was definitely no skimming of any pages as I was completely immersed and feeling all the sadness, grief, hope, love, and heat that the characters experienced. Sid and Ty will remain one of my favourite couples of all time! Sid, in particular, was just so sexy, caring, and swooney! Together, they were just magical. I can't wait to read more words from this author. Kit Grey has been added to my list of favourites!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Feast for every Romance Reader
Reviewed in India on March 17, 2024
Really. This book is a Feast, with an average reading time of 10 hours, I wondered if it was going to drag but boy oh boy was I wrong!! Amazing characters. Super tender and romantic scenes between them. Even the side characters are so well fleshed. So much character growth and deep, deep feels. No angst as such but I was very immersed in their story. Ty is such a beautiful soul and his grief just felt so touching. Sid, is a dream. Honestly, this author is so good at writing scenes with rich dialogues and settings. I loved that this was a single pov. But never did it feel like we didn't know what Sid was thinking. Terrific writing. I didn't want it to end. I laughed, I cried, and I swooned. Bonus, the game scenes were so exciting! Even a non basket ball fan, without knowing the technicalities of the game would be on the edge reading them. I really loved this and I'm so looking forward to Salem's story, that little excerpt made me smile like crazy!! Can't believe I have to wait, gosh, this was a really good romance read and Ty and Sid's passionate love is going to stay with me for a long time ~

Just dive right in!

What a debut! I’ve never read anything from this author but I’m in love! The writing style flows so well and the words keeps you captivated. I couldn’t put this book down read it in 2 days. The emotional and pyshival and mental rollercoaster that Ty went through and add in his and Sid’s realationship mermerizing. Grief is unbearable but if you have the love of the people that mean she most and can help you it’s amazing. The chemistry and love even when they were fighting and not agreeing was beautiful to read. Looking forward to the next book definitely one to read

4.0 out of 5 stars Such a Sweet Story and soo painful
Reviewed in France on January 24, 2024
Important to read the TW as always, this book has a lot of mental health representation and it truly shows the impact on the characters, their life, their goals, and their relationships.

I really liked the story, seeing these two basketball players falling deeply for each other and trying to deal with their careers, their issues and being true to each other, just beautiful. Lots of games are described, it’s important to see Ty's space of mind (single POV) and Ty/Sid's faces off during the games are epic !!

Ty’s POV is intense, I just couldn’t stop feeling his pain, being in his head, seeing his nightmares; this story is in a way heartbreaking but Sid is Ty’s light, he’s supportive, affectionate, comprehensive, caring and still not perfect (nobody is).

Overall get ready for deep feelings, deep connection, harsh games, and a lot of s**

Kits writing will grab you and pull you into the story and not let you out until you finish!! So make sure when you read it you have nothing to do for a solid 8 hours.

The way Sid and Ty fall in love is perfect. The banter, the sweetness and oh boy the s*xual tension 🥵🥵🥵 is incredibly well written.

Ty is a rookie who is haunted by the death of his parents. Sid is a veteran player who has his own trauma. The two connect on a level neither have ever had with anyone else after one conversation. The love between the two is palpable.
Kit takes you on a roller coaster of loss and pain that rips you apart of love and trust that makes your feel warm and then spits you out raw and healing on the otherside. These two work so hard to overcome their insecurities and loss and boy does it pay off. They work so god damn hard to build something beautiful. It’s incredibly real. The love between each is that deep soul meant to be love.

And the passion….is just .. scorching..you want fletching? Thigh screwing, possessiveness, somniphilia, marking.. you will be left feeling extremely hot under the collar

You have:
🏀 Mental health
🏀possessiveness
🏀instant attraction
🏀competitiveness

I feel like me review doesn’t even cover how good, how well written, how beautiful this book is. But I would recommend this to everyone any anyone. Remember tissues and set a day aside for yourself.

Thank you so much @authorkitgrey for letting us into Sid and Tys world. I am looking forward to seeing what you have coming next!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 just because it’s definitely more then a 5
