After reading the reviews on this bike I was so concerned. But I really liked the bike and the features it had so I thought what the heck I'll give it a shot. First let's talk about the packaging which multiple people in here have commented on. It was excellent with the frame being well protected and the rest of the pieces of the bike being well packed. Next we can talk about assembly which multiple people on here have said is very difficult. It took me 30 minutes to assemble the bike including the adjustment of the brakes which is incredibly easy. I would say the most difficult thing to do is to make sure that you get the front tire on properly seated to assure that the rotor is properly aligned inside the caliper. And you loosen the caliper, push the brake lever, and retighten the caliper. Like a 2-minute deal. Oh I should also mention flip the bike upside down before you do this. The derailers and everything else worked perfectly and I'm already riding it. It appears to be a well-built, lightweight, and easy to ride bicycle. For my wife and I which are only going to be riding on trails and state parks Etc I think it's an excellent choice. As far as the fit goes I am 5'11" and 230 lb. The bike fits me perfectly with the seat moved more towards the bottom. I could see where it has plenty of adjustment for somebody that's two to three inches taller than me and maybe one to two inches shorter than me.Add: my wife and I went for our first trail ride. 3 miles with absolutely no issues going uphill, downhill, changing gears, braking and absolutely no issues. I am going to have to pick up a pair of gloves to provide some better cushioning for my hands, and the seat could use some extra cushion as well. But that's more preference than anything else.

I bought this bike off amazon for $250. I have been a downhill racer for 17 years so I feel pretty confident when saying I know what I'm talking about. My downhill bike is a Cannondale Super V Carbon 700 Missy Signature Edition with aftermarket goodies. I bought this bike for just something to play with. However, I was pleasantly surprised at what it can do. I can't say much about the packaging because, there is NO packaging. It's literally a bike in a box, so expect some sort of damage. Unless you do the work yourself, don't plan on taking it out the day you get it. I do some very serious mountain biking on single track trails on this thing all day once a week at Jiminy Peak, MA. Have been out 6 times now. The terain is very steep, technical, and rugged. Full face and gear required. The 29" wheels are a bonus. The bike handles very well. The pedals are metal and nice and grippy. The ride is pretty nice. The rear shock is actually pretty decent. The fork is a little soft. I bottom it out all the time. I can't say much about the shifting and components cause it's downhill. I never really shift. As long as I have 8th or 9th gear I'm all good. The bike can really take a beating too. I've spilled it probably a dozen times. I bent the handle bar which I just hammered back in place. I also broke the crappy plastic chain ring guard. That's pretty much it other than the expected scratches and cosmetic damage. No damage to the wheels or hubs, the suspension is fine, and the seat has not one tear. All shifting and brake cables are all good. I do tune the shifting and brakes after every run. It's just cable discs but oh well. I am on my second set of brake pads, as they are very small and not made for this, and my second rear tire, but the bike is still 100% factory. Anyone who says this bike is only good for the driveway or riding to work is seriously underestimating it. It will never stack up to my Super V, but when considering what I get for the cost ($4K less than my Super V), this easily gets 5 stars from me. Tough, cheap, and it gets the job done.

**UPDATE**

So I've had this bike for some time now and it has continued to impress me. So I increased the amount of times I ride it from once a week to twice a week. I have no problem keeping up with my buddies on expert rated downhill courses. They all have different downhill bikes such as my Super V that all have a camma in the price tag. Pads and tires are literally the only thing I've had to replace so far on this bike. The parts are cheap, and I order them right from Mongoose so the bike stays 100% factory. This bike has taken a beating and some pretty hard hits, and I have no damage other than the expected scrapes on the frame and handle bars. My buddies have actually nicknamed the bike "the death wish" lol. They say I must have one for riding a bike the way I do with them that you can get for $250 at your local Walmart. However, with what it's been through so far, I don't see it going anywhere any time soon. I inspect the entire bike before and after going out for the day, and I have not found anything wrong. I have removed all of the front shifting components. I just don't need them and they were just getting in the way. It's not that there was anything wrong with them. Also a couple tips if you do some serious riding with this bike: Check the hubs before and after you go out. Especially the front. They have a tendancy to loosen up. Also you may have to lube the fork every now and then or it will become rigid and stiff. Other than that, I say purchase and enjoy.

When I ordered this bike, it arrived fairly quick. When I opened the box the first thing I notice is that most of the parts are assembled. I just have to attach the handle bars, the wheels, and the pedals. Then I notice that small sticker on the right of my bike torn along with small paint, but not to worry with a few paint job it won't be a problem. Then, when I thought that I already aligned the wheels and its disc brakes to the center, it started squeaking when I first rode it which later I found out that one side of the brake pads were touching the disc while turning and it was dirty. Then I tested the derailleurs if they have smooth transition when changing gears, but the front derailleur was having a hard time changing gears. So I had to tune it. Although after tuning the derailleurs, it still would take 2 or 3 seconds before it changes gear or more when it's uphill (when I'm riding. If no one is riding, it takes a second or less maybe because of the weight of the rider that affects the transition of the gears). I could have just brought the bike to a bike store to save myself some trouble tuning the bike, but I was kinda short of money at that time because of the some bills I had to pay. Besides, I was a beginner at that time so I had to learn how to tune and fix my bike by myself which, in the end, proved to be educational.
After all the fixes, my Impasse Dual bike proved to be good bike. Smooth ride downhill, reliable brakes that slows and stops the bike on time even in faster speeds. Although, there is still that problems of changing gears, but 2 or 3 seconds of waiting before it changes gear is not really problem for me. And its weight can be dragging going uphill, but I have a fairly strong legs so its not a problem. This is the best a $290 bike can offer for its performance so I wasn't expecting that much of it.
I have this bike for 2 years now and so far it hasn't really given me problems. Not that bad for a $290 bike.

If you are expecting more from this bike, then better find a more expensive bike where their drive trains, derailleurs, brakes, etc. are high performance because this bike will be a disappointment. But if your looking for a fairly cheap, reliable gears, and sturdy frame of bike then I recommend this bike.

All these negative comments are just because you need to understand that it takes some adjustments. Which is the same as any bike. It's not hard to do.

The bike itself is awesome. The parts on it are what you'd expect. It's not top of the line.

The brakes feel solid and compare well with my Trek bike.

The derailer does feel much cheaper then my Trek but works well.

The seat and seat post I swapped from my Trek. The one it comes with is NOT easy on the butt lol.

I also changed the pedals as the lens it comes with are as you'd expect. Entry lvl.

The front shocks out of the box are so nice. I have Rock Shoxw on my Trek and these for now feel just as good.

The tires are ok. I can tell they will wear fast. Very soft rubber. But that's to be expected.

Rims feel good so far. But eventually probably something I'd change up.

I also added a bike rack as there is no place for a bottle. So for $40 it's a cheap addition I'd recommend if you want to have a place to carry water.

I'd suggest getting a front small fender for it. It does kick up more water being a 29".

Back doesn't need one if you do the bike rack as I did as it acts as one.

Back shock is very soft. And is bouncy. It's good enough for now. But prot something I'll upgrade.

All in all. Take the time to set it up. Took me 45 minutes to set it up. Swap parts and adjust.
If you are not savy with adjusting just take it to your local bike shop and they can do it for usually $50.

Update after a few rides.

The front rim's being painted spokes are the worst idea I have seen on a bike. Literally the guy powder coating them must have been in a bad mood. The spokes constantly creak from the paint. I had to literally take some sandpaper and sand the paint down between the spokes to stop the annoying creaking. Back rim was perfectly fine.

It took half an hour to put it all together, it was very easy to do. I haven't tested it on any major trails as I'm a city trail and path user.
