Extremely breathable, quick-drying and UPF shielding make this form-fitting base layer your best friend. Streamlined sleeves provide ample string clearance, mesh-backed & zippered chest pockets deliver extra ventilation to keep you cool on the move. Product is Performance Fit, designed for minimal layering. Ascent Shirt is a part of early season system. Whether you’re glassing under the blazing sun in an alpine basin or busting out miles in elevation, the Early Season System delivers maximum breathability and moisture management to keep you cool, dry and concealed without sacrificing durability. Lightweight, packable layering solutions enable the system to adapt to your environment as the conditions change in even the most remote places. Hunters have struggled to find a technical hunting shirt for hot weather – often relying on their base layer to fill this need– and most base layers are not optimized to be worn as outerwear because they lack the durability and UPF shielding needed for early-season hunts. Sitka's approach was to create a lightweight yet durable technical hunting shirt, something that hadn’t yet been offered to the big game hunter. This is a little pricy for what it is, but it is Sitka, for all the good and bad that entails. It is a fantastic next to skin silk weight layer that breathes like no other shirt I have. Maybe capilene comes a close second. But this lets any and every breeze through. Its a great layering or summer piece. It will add little to no warmth but it wicks amazingly well. While I understand subalpine is optimized for close up distances I think it does pretty well and medium and long range, of course I'm not a deer so I can't say for sure. I prefer zip pits because I'm weird, but I think the mesh probably on the whole works better. Plenty of stretch. Definitely an athletic next to skin fit, sleeves are plenty long (in fact longer than the sitka kelvin active jacket).

Wore this yesterday for the first time. Opening day of bow season in Missouri. 94° and no breeze. This is as close as you can get to not wearing a shirt. Don’t get me wrong, it was miserable hot out, but this shirt made it as comfortable as it could. High quality and fits great. I’m 6’ and 210 lbs. usually wear a large shirt and the XL fit perfect. Just long enough to tuck into my pants and the sleeves stopped right at my wrist. Couldn’t be happier.
