I'm not entirely sure if they have NFC, but other than that, they are almost identical to regular joy cons, and the Splatoon theme is just gorgeous. Only other difference I've noticed is that the joy sticks have an ever so slightly larger deadzone compared to normal joy cons, but it's something that just takes a bit of getting used to.
