    Let me start off by saying that this phone works great as a phone. The predictive text is on point and the calls were crystal clear. Even in areas where my iPhone struggled to get service this phone has connectivity. The only complaint that I have is that the hinge on the screen broke upon first opening the phone. At first I was going to over look this but after less than a day of use (about an hour before bed inputting contacts and then a morning drive to work) the loose hinge was causing some cracking to appear on the front case as you can see in my photos. My hope is that this was just a defective product and I will update this review when I receive my replacement.

    I bought this phone for my father who is 90 years old. Earlier in the year I bought the Easy Phone T100 LTE phone for him after switching him to Consumer Cellular because Verizon was over charging him. The Easy Phone was super light and easy to operate because it was only for phone calls and text message but it was USELESS because It dropped calls all the time. The Nokia 2780 (which was just released in November 2022) was 10 bucks cheaper and gives stunningly great reception. The call quality of Nokia 2780 is crystal clear on Consumer Cellular. It never drops calls and works everywhere including suburban and rural settings. It was so easy to pop the Consumer Cellular Sim chip into the Nokia and fired it up a viola we were on the network making and receiving calls. Consumer Cellular detected the new phone model and automatically downloaded settings to improve the experience. The Ring Volume and Phone Volume can be raised very loud while not affecting the quality of the sound. The battery is acceptable given it is not huge but he can get a good 4 hours of continuous talk which is outstanding for a senior citizen. It you want an excellent reliable basic flip phone for a senior to make and receive calls on this is it. Don’t buy this phone if you want other frills that you get on a smart phone.

    This phone is terrible. It is not about "hard to text using T9". It is not "lousy camera". Those are normal features of a flip phone. My problems with this device are as follows:

    - The case looks very, very cheap. If it did not say "Nokia" on it, you would be sure it's manually pressed in a 3-rd world country using hand-carved wooden mold form and recycled plastic from soft drink bottles.
    - The back cover falls off every time you sneeze.
    - Stock KaiOs apps, that you cannot remove, for example Weather app, display full-screen ads that you have to interact with to proceed to the app.
    - There are no parenting controls. Strangely, one of the phone setup options is a check box that asks "are you at least 18 years old?". Purpose unknown. I bet if you check it, it will proceed to showing adult ads in stock apps.
    - Phone does not support any languages or input methods beyond English and Spanish.
    - Headphones (required for FM radio) are not included in the package. Nokia should have instead skipped on the flimsy 5V 1A USB-C charger with non-detachable cable. Everyone has 5-10 of those at home.

    Phone hardware is very capable, but Nokia limited functionality of the device and made it virtually unusable. To top it off, debugging functionality is locked, so you cannot jailbreak it, or install any applications beyond those available in KaiStore. And 99% of those come with annoying ads.

    If you need a flip phone you want to hate -- this is the one. Otherwise, stay away.

    This flip phone is exactly what an a teenager who is addicted to social media needs. It allows my child to make and receive phone calls, as well as to do basic texts. A simple call to T-Mobile customer service on her prepaid Sim card plan allowed me to shut the data off. It does have Wi-Fi so if your goal is to eliminate social media, you’re going to have to block this device on your router. I have Comcast and it allows me to Restrict Wi-Fi access based upon each device attached to the network. Don’t underestimate your child’s ability to find other Wi-Fi sources, but the operating system on this phone render it relatively useless. The phone can still access the Internet through an installed browser in the operating system, but it’s fairly rudimentary and , I suspect that it in effect eliminates the desire for social media since it’s so difficult to type out a sentence on a numeric keypad. So my recommendation is 1) buy this flip phone 2) get a T-Mobile, prepaid Sim card and pair it to your child’s cell phone number after you’ve ported the number to T-Mobile 3) select the $10 a month prepaid plan 4) call T-Mobile customer service and ask them to shut off the data on that phone number. They will give you our time and tell you that that isn’t an option, but it is an option and you just need to continue to insist on it and speak to a supervisor if they aren’t willing or able to do what you’re asking. 5) finally, block, access to Wi-Fi on your router for this device.     Let me start off by saying that this phone works great as a phone. The predictive text is on point and the calls were crystal clear. Even in areas where my iPhone struggled to get service this phone has connectivity. The only complaint that I have is that the hinge on the screen broke upon first opening the phone. At first I was going to over look this but after less than a day of use (about an hour before bed inputting contacts and then a morning drive to work) the loose hinge was causing some cracking to appear on the front case as you can see in my photos. My hope is that this was just a defective product and I will update this review when I receive my replacement.
