Worked once, then never again

I was really hoping this thing would be as great as it seemed, but it has given me almost nothing but trouble. When I first bought it, it was pretty easy to set it up, and I even got it tuning channels within Windows Media Center. Shortly thereafter, Microsoft discontinued support for Windows 7 (and along with it, WMC). I upgraded to Windows 10, and was never able to get this to tune again. I can install the drivers that it came with, but ArcSoft can't seem to tune channels. I've tried NextPVR and MediaPortal. NPVR's channel scan fails to detect anything. MediaPortal's channel scan finds channels, but fails to lock on any of them (which tells me there's probably something wrong with the antenna, but I can't seem to figure the problem out). Kodi exhibits similar behavior. The one time it worked in ArcSoft, the picture quality wasn't bad, but I've never had success since. Tech support is almost non-existent. Unfortunately, I can't recommend buying this since it only ever worked once.

Works well on most of the channels I get with my indoor antenna. Sometimes after opening the icon, it goes blank, but then restarts after the application is closed then re-opened again, and works normally.
Somewhat less expensive than some of the other PC tuners available. Could not change the time zone in the recorder application.

Problems with finding software.

How many laptops still have CD drives? Had to search for software and driver online. Finally found the serial number on the side of the unit that helped. You need to load both software and driver individually. The driver was especially a pain trying to get the right version. Would be a lot less complicated if they skipped the CD and simply had a website with correct, latest versions of software and driver.

Now before you think that this is a flame on the product, it's not. I received the package, and it came in perfect shape, I hooked it up to my powered TV antenna and 30 minutes after that it just quit working. I do not hold the teller responsible for the device malfunctioning, I don't know what happened. The fact of the matter is, it may not have been designed to be hooked up to a power antenna at all, so I don't know if the fault lies with me or simply the circuit board of the device was defective. Would I recommend you purchasing the device? Yes, just be aware that it may not work properly with a powered antana and that that could cause damage. I don't know if that's the case or not but still be careful. just use the included antenna.

The license key was little tricky to read 8 appeared like B third time got it right.

I also connected coaxial cable directly to the USB stick did not use the Infrared antenna. Direct wire connection is more efficient and stable.

The item arrived quickly and the install was rather easy (if you ignore common English errors... "User Gudie"? (sic))

But soon after it all went downhill. First channel search, with a large outdoor antenna, took good 50 minutes to get to about 80% -- and didn't go any further. Didn't find any channels either.

So I switched to the supplied "toy" antenna (the tuner got quite hot by this point) and started the search again -- this time it didn't even get to 50% within an hour. Again, no channels found -- and the tuner by this time was very hot.

Tried it also on another computer -- same results.

By the way, I have no issues watching normal TV with my antenna -- many channels, outstanding quality with no noise.

Returning this one since it is clearly defective.
