Pros: The furnace kit is easy to use and maintain, and it gets hot very quickly. The included crucible is a good size (6kg), and the valves give good fire control. The kit comes with good instructions, making it a great starter kit for anyone looking to melt down metals. The parts are of high quality, and the overall look of the furnace is great.
Cons: The hole in the lid is small, which may make it difficult to slide in cans. The lid is not on a hinge, so you'll likely be taking it off and on a lot. For some users, the furnace may be seasonal, as it needs to be used outdoors and requires good ventilation.
Conclusion: Overall, I highly recommend this furnace kit. While it may be dangerous, it comes with good instructions and is easy to use and maintain. The parts are of high quality, and it heats up quickly. Although it may not be suitable for use in all weather conditions, it's a great backyard tinkering project that is both fun and rewarding. With some additional personal protective equipment, this furnace kit can be used safely to create shiny ingots for all kinds of casting projects.
✅WHAT I LIKE:
▪️Comes with ALMOST everything you need; gloves, tongs, and an ingot mold. You will need a welding torch (not included) to preheat the graphite moulds for one or two minutes before pouring the metal into the moulds.
▪️It heats up very quickly! 3 to 5 minutes and you’re ready to start melting.
▪️Brings family and friends together. Who would’ve thought? I’ve been saving some cans, and I’m so happy to be able to melt them down which is very satisfying to watch. I’ve showed a few of my buddies my new toy and they now want one. It's definitely a conversation piece. Of course my son is extremely fascinated by it too and has started collecting his own piles of scrap metal.
▪️ It’s a win win for myself and my creative wife. I haven’t done anything extravagant with the metal I’ve melted, but my wife is an artist and she has taken a lot of interest in it because she loves making jewelry. She is a bit scared of it at the moment, but she is already collecting some project ideas for us to try. Look up ant hill art! Pretty cool ideas there. We’re pretty excited about where this journey will take us over the next few months. We were very lucky to get a heat wave these passed couple weeks to play around it. But we will be waiting for warmer spring/summer weather to get more serious as we’re expecting another dumping of rain and snow these coming weeks.😣Maybe then I'll post some decent pictures of my work.
▪️The spout on the crucible allows an easier pour and less mess.
❌WHAT I DON’T LIKE:
▪️The outside of the furnace body has major scuff marks around the burner inlet. It makes a new item look unfinished or it was re-welded and sent out (as seen in my pictures). Very odd that the rest of the furnace is polished so nice and then the major scuff marks in a specific area. Am I getting a refurbished furnace? It does make me question the quality of the product overall.
▪️The tongs feel a bit cheap, but seemed to work ok.
▪️Pouring the metal into the moulds is quite a skill on it’s own. It’s a bit awkward because you’re using the tongs to pour it. I recommend practicing with nothing in it just to get used to the weight of the pot, because remember, you cannot touch it.
▪️You can’t do large projects. But that’s ok for me since I'm a beginner.
▪️Wish the connection tube was longer. I feel it’d be safer.
▪️You need to use this in a well ventilated space. Best place would be outside. Make yourself an nice little area made specifically for this hobby. I do not recommend doing this in your garage or even on your deck as this can be a pretty dangerous hobby if you’re not careful.
▪️Very limited on the variety of molds on Amazon and anywhere really. We want to make some jewelry, but can’t find molds to make them.😢
▪️For such a dangerous hobby, I wish there were more safety items included. Not a deal breaker as it’s up to me to find the proper attire, but you can’t just start right out of the gate and use this kiln. It’s too dangerous in my opinion. Be safe, friends!👊
🍺OVERALL:
This has got to be every man’s dream hobby; melting stuff! So ladies, if you’re looking for a crazy cool gift for that special man in your life, this kiln will definitely spark his interest. What do a lot of men like to do? Drink canned beverages and make fire. 😎🍻 I recommend this kiln to anyone who is creative or just wants to sell metal bars from their scrapping hobby (You won’t get rich from it🙂). However with that said, the propane costs more than melting the metal, but it’s really fun. This kiln seems relatively safe if you follow all of the safety procedures in the manual and create a designated safe space for this hobby. It’s setup and manual is very easy to understand. You can also check out Toauto’s YouTube page to get a basic video tutorial. There is a bit of a learning curve to getting the molten metal to not solidify as you’re pouring it into the ingot mould. I’m a bit embarrassed to say that my first attempt did not look like a nice bar.😳 I’m sure with practice, my wife and I will get it right eventually.

It's winter still so I can't play with the forge yet. (Propane = outdoors only). But I am super stoked because I have the forge, the tools, the propane, loads of cans and lots of anthills in my yard. I am really stoked to try to make anthill art!
The kit has everything you need to get started (except for some better safety gear really (and project specific items). Even without a plan, you can make ingots for a later project. The instructions that come with the kit are pretty good for a newbie.
Since I couldn't fire up the furnace, I did a little research to see how well stocked the kit was and if it was comparably priced. Winner, winner! The price was literally the best I found during my search (propane melting furnace) and it was quite well stocked. Vevor did have one comparable unit that was almost the exact same price but it didn't get as hot.
+ stainless steel construction = higher temperatures, less rust
+ thick gloves, tongs, ingot mold,
+double thickness refractory lining
+ adjustable air intake for precise fire/temperature control
+ compact design
+ 6kg crucible
- hingeless lid is a little more awkward with greater potential for mishap or injury.
