The 0.43x Wide Angle Adapter allows more of the scene to be included in the photograph, which is useful in architectural, interior and landscape photography where the photographer may not be able to move farther from the scene to photograph it. Advances in high-index / low-dispersion optical glasses, new barrel materials, and exotic anti-reflection coatings, along with the latest in computer-aided-design / computer-aided-manufacturing, are combined to produce lenses of unprecedented quality.

Diamond-cut from crystal-clear, water-white optical glass, Opteka lenses are ground and polished to a precise precision. Because all Opteka lenses are designed and manufactured with the highest possible degree of consistency, you can swap lenses mid-shoot with no discernible variation in color or effect. The unprecedented purity, color saturation and repeatability of Opteka lenses virtually eliminate the need for lab color timing corrections caused by other lenses. Opteka's hard anti-reflective (AR) coating offers protection specially formulated to resist flaking, peeling and scratching.

Now you can take close-up shots like you never took before with the detachable 10x macro lens. Enables you to get much closer than the minimum focus of the standard camera lens - as close as 3 inches from the subject.

Verified Purchase
It does create a wider field of view and it does have excellent image quality (no added aberrations or distortion which is really good). However, and this may differ with full frame, the magnification is only .8x instead of .43x. This means a 28mm lens is turned into a 22mm lens, not a 12mm lens, for example. I use it on my 28mm f2.8 with a 10mm spacer to create a wide angle macro lens.
