    Update 2 (9/30/23): I bought a second one since they were on sale and had a coupon for an additional discount so less than $13. I thought it would be fun to try some AM DXing with this tiny radio at night. I was surprised to get distant 50kW stations including one just over 600 miles away when measured in a straight line from my house to the transmission tower on Google Maps. It was a good night for DXing with my best radio getting a station about 1000 miles away but I was totally impressed since the AM antenna inside this radio has to be very short. I just used the radio's internal antenna, no external loop antenna. I noticed the included ear buds are different than the original radio though I don't use them so can't vouch for the quality.

    Update (9/15/23): I ended up putting this radio in my car center console for emergency use. One day when I was waiting for my wife, I brought it out and used it while waiting. I noticed it has a problem common with small radios. As long as I held it, it got good FM reception but as soon as I set it down, it lost the station. I'm leaving it at 5 stars because I still think it's the best radio of this size you can buy. It's five stars compared to similar sized radios, not compared to larger ones.

    Original review: I bought the Prunus J-777 after watching Todderbert's review and recommendation on YouTube and it didn't disappoint. The speaker is great for such a small radio. It doesn't sound tinny or flat. The reception is also great considering its size and short FM antenna. I picked up most FM stations within 60 miles and AM stations at night out to about 700 miles. The distant ones were clear channel stations. The dial is small so you have to go very slowly and sometimes backtrack to find some stations, but that's to be expected with a radio this small. It's a radio you can take anywhere and get good reception or use as a back-up to your main radio. Overall it's outstanding for its size and I recommend it.

    I really like the reception of this little radio and the fact that it seems to cut static down. If it wasn't for the negatives I'd give it 5 stars (obviously). But on the con side is 1) the volume button is recessed too much so that it's hard to turn, 2) I like to listen to classical music, but the station is hard to get in my area. Has to be just right and several times I mistook the tuner dial for the volume (their near each other) and I messed up my tuning (Rats, got to tune it again!) and 3) the antenna broke right on (I think) the first time I took it for a walk. I had to have it out to hear my station, but I guess it caught on some area of the backpack and I came home to find it bent. Later, it broke off entirely (or I broke it off). Double rats! I've since had a maybe 2 foot piece of copper wire in the antenna hole, and it works, but that's rather inconvenient. The alternative seems to be one of no audible station (without headphones), only headphone sounds, with the wire acting as antenna. But I'd rather not stick something in my ears. I also don't want anything computer related, like Bluetooth and mp3. Don't know why all the so-called "Vintage" radios that I saw include them. Their not vintage then. Anyway, the only other choice is a Prunus radio with a long, copper antenna (and weather band :) . Just got to be more careful this time.

    Later edit: I tried to figure out how to change the antenna since that was the only thing that was broken, and (besides the issues I mentioned earlier) it was a good little radio. Why waste it? So I got my little screwdriver, unscrewed the one screw on the back that I saw, it didn't work, looked for more screws by opening the battery door, saw two, unscrewed them. It kind of worked but seemed to be attached somehow. I tried to see the antenna through the tiny gap, but couldn't really. Thought it snapped on the rest of the way, so tried to snap it open. I broke it. Triple rats. Turns out there was another screw, but the little white "QC Control" sticker was placed directly over it so I couldn't see it. I didn't think someone would do that. Anyway, it didn't look like there is a way to replace it as a piece of solder looks to be on the antenna. Oh well. I suggest making the antenna a screw in one rather than attached, then add an extra antenna in the box just in case, they shouldn't cost too much.

    Long story short, you have a good radio, but please consider how people can replace the antenna if they need to. And make the antenna more solid so it doesn't bend so easily.

    I have the J-777 (the white radio in this listing, not the silver one). Note that these are two different models.

    In short:
    *Very good sound from speaker, considering size of unit. I wouldn't use this for music listening, but it's perfectly loud and adequate for talk/news radio.
    *Overall build quality stands out for this price point. The plastic casing feels 100% solid, and the dials and slide buttons and antenna feel surprisingly high-end. It doesn't feel like a cheap radio. I'd have to congratulate the design engineers for this company on this one.
    *The tuning wheel does have a slight bit of slop/slack in its action, but the actual tuning indicator stays dead-set where you leave it - it doesn't have that nasty, cheap, springy feeling some tuners have that causes the tuning to spring back/forwards after you set them.
    *Reception is very good so far. The tuning slide is very small, so you have to take your time and turn the dial slowly, but the accuracy is there. Make sure you understand the difference between FM and (internal) AM antennas, and how to rotate the unit to tune in AM vs. moving the extendable antenna for FM, and you'll find this to be a pretty powerful little radio.
