    It's dead, Jim, less than 7months from purchase. Linksys can't fix it, and it's a paperweight right now. It's an awesome router. Got a great price, quick shipment. Trouble-free streaming. Doubled the WiFi bubble size over the Verizon router. Strong signal in every corner of our house AND about a half block. Setup and WiFi network management using the Linksys mobile phone app was a breeze. It was a very bad choice to buy a factory refurb. $220 down the tubes. Most important feature for us...the eight Gigabit Ethernet ports. Hoped for years of happy, trouble-free use. It just was too good to be true. Don't buy refurbs.

    Didn’t use the technical support. Might have work to resolve the issue but as a customer I had place enough time and effort on this purchade and simply seek a refund.
    Documents from the web gave good reviews on the EA9500 but for myself, the unit that was received was defective straight from the box and hadn’t the opportunity to verify its capabilities.

    ...at first! And having 8 ports was exactly what I needed! Within a month, it simply stopped working. It seemed to get in an endless rebooting loop and I finally threw up my hands and sent it back.

    In fairness, this was a refurbished unit. Also, there were two subsequent hardware versions of this unit, so I cannot speak to whether the later hardware versions solved this problem. I can only say that my particular unit quickly became irretrievably non-functional.

    After I encountered my own problems with it, I went online and read other reviews. I probably should have done that, earlier, since I found numerous references to the same problem I was having, and multiple replacement units seemed to have the same issues for those reviewers. And yet, everywhere it was reviewed by professional reviewers it got very high marks, and none of the magazine reviews mentioned a problem with reliability. In the past, I’ve always had great success with Cisco/Linksys products, although I do note that Belden acquired this product line after my next-most-recent purchase. I can’t say whether that has had an effect, but some consumer reviews I saw seemed to think it was a contributing factor, and that this product may have been rushed to market.

    I have considered buying the brand-new version (non-refurb, latest hardware version 2.0) and seeing if the problems have been ironed out, but they’re nearly twice the price. As a non-gamer, I don’t really need all the capability of this unit, aside from the convenience of having 8 gigabit Ethernet ports, so I may not.

    But I’m left wondering, now, whether I can ever trust another Belden/Linksys product, again.

    It does a great job sending the 5Ghz signal throughout the whole house and I am very happy with it. The performance is really great and it had handle the growing number of device at the house. It was easy to setup which has not changed with the Linksys brand. I would still like more out of it since the older models had more configuration option while this one has a lot less. However, the new picture view of the network is nice as are a lot of other new features. Over all happy with it, but would like more configuration options. This is a recondition unit which is working out well. I do understand that certified refurbished means fixed from a past issues but the unit is working out well and the repair people seem to have done a great job which is not all ways the case with refurbished product. I have had no issues so far and like I said I am happy with the unit.

    I am a network admin. I have a lab setup at my house. Because of this, I needed to do a lot of tweaking this router. Opening ports, subnets, adding access points. It was really easy.
    I bought this item as a refurbished unit, but I can't tell. I was really excited that it has 8 wired ports as I have 5 wired connections just near my TV and 30 more in my office.
    I was even able to set QoS settings for the fire TV, as streaming video is more important than my home email server.
    I am so happy with this unit. I know a lot about routers, and this one is the best on the market 2017 / 2018.

    Bro-showsky the 3rd, this router is legit spec-wise. However the refurb work done on this is a negatrino (most negatively charged particle know to man), horrendous, dastardly dreadfully, and just plain doo-doo buckets. I could not get this thing to work. These routers are getting too expensive, so I'm going to build one (pfsense) and call it a day. I have a grave yard of old pc parts, and probably will buy a beast wifi pcie to make it saucy.
    You may have luck, but just know, you definitely clicking on a mystery box with this one.

    This is exactly what I needed to replace my old WiFi router during COVID-19. My wife and I both work from home, and the old router kept dropping signal due to the age and load we were putting on it. This one, however, performs incredibly well so far (I've only had it for a week or so). I've seen some complaints about it rebooting and no VPN support but so far I've had no issues with either. The corporate VPN works fine on this, so I'm not sure what the other complaints were about. The signal strength is great (we have a 3 story 2000 sq ft home) and the lowest signal level on any device so far has been about 50% on the 5GHz band through several walls and on the far side of the basement. I haven't rated tech support since I haven't needed to use it.

    First off LinkSys tech support is horrible .. they are communicative .. but offer no solutions
    Second this router limits your bandwidth, I have a Gigabit service and when connected directly to the modem (via my LT) I am getting 900+Mbps D/L and 30+Mbps U/L .. when I add this Router and with wireless turned off and only the LT connected .. I barely get 300Mbps D/L and yes i have read all the "fixes" and threads about this .. this particular router does not allow fast throughput even with MP off .. also latest firmware installed .. no - one has an answer for this .. waste of money .. WiFi is good from this unit is about the only thing going for it. I cant send it back as its past the time .. I would if i could!

    I ordered thinking that I would receive v2... but it's v1.1 which is slower.
    With gigabit internet, v1.1 has less stable download speed when you are saturating the connection.
    I'm going to return this device... and I already replaced by v2 device... which offers a quad core cpu instead of dual core. I can saturate my internet connection and still get very stable speed when wired.
