If you understand how to play Madden games, then you'll enjoy this. Why did I only give it a 3? A. "Going into the draft" where you are about to add players, the franchise mode will add FREE AGENT players on your team's roster that you do not want. It would not be that big of deal--except, if you try to release any of the players they added, you'll have to pay player's fees(sometimes MASSIVE AMOUNTS) for every one you want to release. This burns me up, because there is a cap for each season and there is absolutely no reason whatsoever for it. I mean, you've just gone through the free agent signing period(where you get to choose the free agents you actually do want) and the draft is coming up so that you can add players to fill your roster. There's no need for them to add players needlessly that you do not want! I can't remember any other game doing this and it really gets on my last nerve! B. When you create an alternate uniform for your "CLASSIC" NFL team, they will not contain a helmet logo! It's not that big of deal for me, because I use the 49ers and can get by by making my helmet all gold like Notre Dame's helmet for my alternate uniforms. However, for almost all teams, this would be MAJOR DEAL if you are into designing your own alternates! C. It glitches quite a bit: the coaches and fans' faces will become unrecognizable a good bit of the time. Also, the coaches mannerisms/animations can be off; they may cheer/seem happy when the wrong team has done something good and vice versa. D. The official's replay function is not very good at all. Sometimes, they will miss an obvious call! Sometimes in your favor actually.. Not bad, but not very good...Sometimes, it will not allow you to replay a play even though that is something you should do and even though you have a challenge left to use(literally, grayed out). E. If you call a timeout, it will not allow you to call another one back-to-back. So, if you have your Special Teams personnel in(after calling a TO), you are stuck and may be forced to use those slow players to stop your opponent's passing game! F. There are times when you cannot sub in elgible players. I'm not talking about injured players. I am talking about a glitch that will simply not allow you to choose a certain player! Most of the time it does right. But, I have encountered this, when attempting use a 2-way player. F. Some positions allow 2-way players; some do not. Like you cannot use a CB as a WR and vice versa, though Deion Sanders has routinely done this in the NFL.

THERE ARE SOME GOOD THINGS, THOUGH: It is fun to play, there is an accuracy function, there are drills and games/playoff games to help your players improve, etc. You can change certain positions into another in the player profile/edits. For instance, you can turn a WR into a CB and vice versa, a safety into a CB, etc...
