    This is a great way to upgrade your iPod Classic's drive to a solid-state version, and it increased our 160 GB original capacity to 256 GB! The only detractor was the utter lack of instructions on how to install it. Luckily, I was using the iFixit instructions, which did the job.

    This is a great hard drive for these Ipods. The original one is a disc based hard drive that they also used for laptops during that era which are total garbage drives. I've seen at least 4 of these type drives die (laptops), not to mention they hammer on the batteries life. Having a solid state drive is a must for these Ipods. If you get the apple/support screen (X) when you install it means either the ribbon isn't installed correctly or you used the old ribbon from the Ipod. Some of us prefer to have our music without all the app/phone/wifi garbage, just a walkman player and that's what these Ipods are. Thanks to the seller for having these as an option.
