I knew these DVD’s, Body of Proof was in the Region 2 PAL format, and a plus to the seller who promptly sent me a message to let me know that they will not play on most USA players.
I however have a multi-region player, but my interest is elsewhere. Maybe my comments here will help a few folks who are interested in building a digital library, but are having issues finding the series they need in NTSC Region 1 format. NTSC is the video standard commonly used in North America and most of South America. PAL is the video standard which is popular in most of the European and Asian countries. I have over 2040 video items so far on a 2 TB drive and around 450 GB left. I wanted “Top Gear” but could only find in PAL format. So now I have it. I only wanted the episodes with the three UK gentlemen hosting.
Some series of shows are very hard to locate in region one NTSC format but may be found in region two format PAL. THIS IS ALL LEGAL TO DO FOR YOUR OWN USE (as you have purchased the DVDs and do not plan on selling, software piracy is illegal)
One may find an application to download and use. I purchased and use WinX DVD Ripper Platinum by Digiarty Software, Inc but you can find other applications for free or to purchase. They are not too hard to use, just look at their FAQ for any help.
If one’s computer has DVD drive, you can convert from PAL format DVDs to MP4’s. You can also find applications which will rip Blu ray’s as well, but I prefer to use DVD’s. But Blu Ray takes up much more drive space typically 10-15 GB for one move and longer to rip so FAT 32 will not work.
So, remember Formatting in Fat32 has a 4GB limit or use NTFS file system. Some TV systems will not recognize NTFS, so check first. Anther helpful hint is to label as 001, 002, until all episodes are ripped. etc. I know this works for Samsung TV’s so you can save your episodes in proper format order, an example here is the series “Body of Proof.” (BOP) I had to go on line to find the episode listings by name.
This set of DVD’s are labelled as here, They have no episode names only a number with this series, so go on line and fine a series seasons and episode listing which has the names.

(you can rip in other formats, example .avi so check first on what format you need.
Here is a sample of my naming convention below after ripping, I use numbers so that the episodes will be listed in order as broadcast, otherwise some TV’s will just list in some inane alphabetically order, totally out of synch with how broadcast in the original. I have Samsung Model Smart Televisions. You could just use “BOP” just titles of episode, or just about anything, you decide. But some naming convention makes things easier later on when looking for a particular episode.
001 Body of Proof - Pilot S1D1T1 [2011].mp4
002 Body of Proof - Letting Go S1D1T2 [2011].mp4
003 Body of Proof - Helping Hand S1D1T3 [2011].mp4
Etc.
Etc.
After you have ripped the DVD you can easily rename them, e.g. Body of Proof “Pilot Disk1, Season1, Title1” 2011.mp4 I rename to> 001 Body of Proof - Pilot S1D1T1 [2011.mp4 < You can date if you wish but you can only use {} or {} and not () Disk 1, Season 1 Title 1 is now D1S1T1 (some titles are a bit long so renaming space counts)
There may be 1-4, or 5 or 6…or more episodes on a DVD, depends if you are ripping a movie or a series when you start to rip them just put in the DVD when the rip program comes up select the check boxes next to the file to rip usually in this case the 40-49 minute 1 to 6… boxes, number of boxes depends on the DVD and number of episodes. You do not have to check all boxes as some are special comments, effects or other items? only the 35–49-minute boxes which are usually located near the top, but not always at the top listing, no need to check very top box about merging titles.
Put the DVD in and when you just get ready to select run, see what boxes you have checked, with many older DVD’s for my WINXDVD program I only need to check the top two boxes on the right side top line. It will either start or give you a message about Disney Security, If that is the case then check the remaining three boxes located under the top two boxes checked. This method takes longer but usually rips the DVD. You can let it run through and rip all episodes. Then when it is finished re-name them all, and for sure make a backup copy and save to another drive. BOP is 10 disks (42 episodes) so it takes time, but when I am finished, I have all episodes with no ads or commercials. I can leave my Samsung TV on, start Season one, episode one and it will play through the complete series without stopping to the end of season three.

Don’t buy
This video was purchased early for a Christmas present. However, not until we opened 3 1/2 months after purchase was there anything about this dvd only good in “certain regions”. Nothing in the ordering process or viewing. We don’t even know what “regions” are.
