They have layers and aren't just one thin 1 layer cloth. I was able to cut these up to fit to different sizes with plenty left still for bigger areas.

Easy to wash even if it's yucky from wound care. Or very greasy from using with castrol oil, etc. I let mine soak a bit with baking soda and give it a quick hand wash afterwards and it's good as new.
