I found setting up this phone was not much of a challenge. It works with standard (Post Paid) SIM cards. My carrier is T-Mobile and operates perfectly. I purchased this phone for a senior relative and it shouldn't be much of challenge to make and receive calls on this device. The display is easy to read when dialing phone numbers. I pre-programmed several functions (i.e. Bluetooth and Contact Names/Numbers) that I feel is immediately useful. Internet access can be setup if that is the desire; however, you may find 3G a little slower than a common smart phone. Text messaging is available; however, you will have to master the number key input to accomplish this. I bought this phone simply for making and receiving calls. The Bluetooth function connects to any device with this technology (i.e. Telephone Handsets, Equipped Vehicles, Audio Equipment, etc.). I'm completely satisfied at this point and find this phone quite functional and easy to use for most seniors. UPDATE: The battery has a very short charge life. I called Amazon Customer Service and they immediately sent a replacement battery. This should resolve the issue and really appreciate their assistance in resolving my battery concerns.

Well, EASYFONE isn't exactly accurate. I spent many hours trying to activate this phone. I had the miniscule nano sim card that is required, and it is just that: miniscule. Make that VERY miniscule? I must have dropped it 10 times. The instructions say to "insert it" and show a diagram of WHERE, but they don't say HOW. To anyone who is as ignorant as I am about such things, please stick something sharp and thin down in that metal "pocket" where the nano card goes, and lift it slightly, or like me, you'll struggle getting it inserted! I kept just laying it on top of that pocket, because it looked like that was where it went in the diagram. I'd put the back on and then discover that was WRONG. I defy you to remove that back 5 or 6 times like I had to, and have any thumbnails left. I finally wised up (?) and used a dull knife to slide in between the front and back to open it, and there were little pieces of the plastic all over the counter from cutting pieces when trying to prize it loose all those times.
The phone is NOT easy to use, once you get it activated, (activating it is another whole ballgame, btw. That was fun... NOT!) I've spent hours trying to discover just how to make a call and type a text on the thing. Still not sure how either of those is done. I will say, the sound seems to be good and even with my hearing aids, easily heard.
I use a p.c. and an iPad for hours every day, and have no problems with either. This phone is a very confusing, strange piece of technology, but I had to have it for certain tasks after my old cellphone became obsolete. It did everything, and never a problem till I couldn't use it anymore.

Edit: I'm finally fed up with this NOT Easyfone, and am returning it. It wouldn't make even a simple call without problems--like letting Walmart know I was there to pick up my grocery order. Simply refused. Final straw was when I placed a call to a friend, and she said I sounded like I was underwater--and so did SHE! Then a few seconds later, the phone cut out completely and she had to call me back on my landline. Maybe it was just this phone or perhaps me, but I can't recommend this Easyfone. It's a piece of very poor, outdated technology--and seems to be a lot like the old Blackberry. 🙁

The phone is marketed as suitable for "seniors," presumably because the stereotype is that many of them have been reduced to being fumbling dolts. Of course, I dispute this broad brush generalization. With that I will say that the phone is easy to use and easy to read for anyone. It has a strong signal and very good reception of weak incoming signals. Fact is that I hate carrying a heavy, oversized so-called "smart phone around all day. The EasyPhone is light weight, attractive and compact, all of which are the reasons I like it. It's one significant drawback is that it does not have a camera. But then I'm not Ansel Adams or Steven Spielberg, so I don't make my livelihood shooting pictures. All in all, I like the phone and recommend it.

I purchased this for my 90 year old mother and activated it on Mint. It worked great for 3 months and didn’t want to power up. Easyfone support was easy to work with and assured me they will make it right. It turns out the sim card went bad. I put in a new one and the phone is back up and running again. Their support made me feel confident they were there with me along the way. Great support is hard to come by those days.. specially on warranty work and Easyfone set the bar high.

If I had been able to make or receive calls, I believe this phone might deserve a high rating. But it didn't, so... It did transmit texts to and from my service provider, who was unable to help me with calls. But I can't fault them as I didn't buy it from them. (No service provider can or should be expected to support every phone on the market - or bought from a competitor, in this case, Amazon.) That said, it would have been a GREAT value and VERY easy to use. It seemed to be of good build quality and felt good in hand. The user manual was alternatively well-written and poorly written, as many are. If your service provider sells this phone and provides tech support for it, it might be a win.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for seniors (but could be improved)
Reviewed in Canada on November 27, 2019
This phone is built of flimsy material and the battery compartment lid actually bends as you push to slide it out. I got the red version and discovered that red is not the colour of the plastic, but instead, was sprayed on top of the black colour and the imperfect overspray is visible on the inside of the lid cover (but not the outside where it looks perfect|).

Having said this, the features and ease of use of this phone is exactly what my elderly mother needed. The screen display could be magnified for easy viewing with the huge numbers, and when combined with the audio reading of each number pressed (if set for this), makes if it impossible for seniors to make a mistake when dialing numbers. The phone is also light and comes with a neckstap so that you can wear the phone like a necklace which prevents seniors from dropping the phone or misplacing it. Overall, extremely easy for senors to use, and very easy to set using the simple menu list.

However, there are two horrible features, both of which can be deactivated from the phone's menau. First, the phone comes with a flashlight feature which is switched on (and drains the battery) far too easily by inadvertently touching the on/off button located on the side of the phone. Second, there is an FM radio feature which you need to switch off in the menu otherwise it'll cause you massive grief. Not sure why such a retarded feature which nobody on earth will ever use was added to the phone,

Apart from these two features, the phone is absolutely phenominal, my mother loves it, and I would highly recommend it

--and contemplate the probability of three defective Easy phones in quick succession, in light of dozens of positive reviews: " ... super easy ...happy with ... real bargain ... perfect phone ... best money that I have ever spent". Jeez! Not having purchased, or even used, any cell phone before venturing on this one, our approach was both punctilious and, in retrospect, lamentably authoritarian. The first one could not be programmed; we struggled with it ..."must be our fault ... actually, not ..." before sending it back, happily within the return time. The second one (I did say authoritarian) continually would not switch on; for a while we thought that having to push buttons all over the place to activate the damn thing was normal operation -- but finally both we, and it, quit altogether. Having returned this one, we ordered a third (yes...), which lasted longer than the second, and then conveniently died in the same way, just outside the return window.

During this finally expensive, admittedly educational saga, this deceptively fine-looking phone -- always a sucker for red -- let us down, crucially, on two emergency calls, and one other important enough to be a significant inconvenience. We make no claim to being techies, in the contemporary sense, but do expect that putting a fair amount of time and effort into learning how to use an unfamiliar unit will yield something reliable in operation. This parade of shoddy phones was an unsettling let-down.

Having contemplated whether it was actually worth it to us to try again (..."couldn't we figure out something with the laptop, dear?"), we have -- with a Ushining cell phone, also from Amazon. Appearances can always be deceptive, it appears -- this model looks very much like the uneasy phone (red!), but is conveniently a tad bigger, works in the same putative way, is less expensive and, most salient, has been one hundred percent reliable in operation for over two months now.

I rarely give only one star in a review, but this one for the uneasy phone should be halved. At the same time, I salute the many who seem to have had success with it; I just hope this continues for them. Marcus W.

I bought this phone for my 83 year old mother. She loves how easy it is to use with its big buttons. But after 7 months, the ringer stopped working and shortly thereafter, the entire phone stopped functioning. I immediately contacted the vendor who promptly sent a replacement phone by mail. Since the replacement came directly from China, and given Covid19-related delays, it took about a month to arrive, but that was out of their control. My mother is happy to have a working phone and I appreciate the great service I received.
