About this item
- EFFICIENT POWER: 36lb Thrust - this 12v electric trolling motor provides excellent power and efficiency for any boater. The high quality build allows the motor to run all day long without overheating, or making noise to spook fish.
- FEATURES: This motor features a 30 inch shaft, a 5 LED battery meter, a 6 inch telescoping tiller handle, and 2 blade propeller. The mount angle, height, and direction can all be adjusted and locked into place when needed.
- SPEED: This motor has 8 speeds, 5 forward and 3 reverse. The motor is designed for trolling, so the top speed of this motor is about 3mph, but depends on your boat shape, weight, water, wind, and other factors. Our 2 Blade Propeller performs well in weeds and grassy conditions.
- BATTERY: The NV 36lb motor requires one (1) 12V Lead-Acid Deep Cycle or Lithium Deep Cycle battery (battery not included), 50ah recommended. The motor includes a 40amp circuit breaker which is recommended at all times to protect from battery voltage surges. Max Amp Draw: 29A
- QUALITY & RELIABILITY: All Newport motors are made to high quality stainless steel, magnesium, and zinc hardware to withstand fresh water and salt water environments. We stand behind every product we make with industry leading customer service and a 2 year warranty.

The one thing I would change on the design is are the clamp faces. The metal is very durable but it is also too smooth. It needs to have a better grip on the surface that contacts the transom. this is especially true if you use the Sea Eagle side mount transom with it's heavy duty vinyl vertical plank. On more than one occasion after tightening the hand knobs as far as possible, the round discs on the opposite side of the clamps would slide out of place during a moderate turn. Had I not been paying close attention, the entire motor could have fallen off and been lost in the bottom of the lake or maybe even capsized me like a giant anchor. I have since remedied this issue by adding a thin layer of inner tube rubber on both sided of the transom which greatly improves the clamps' grip.
It would also be good if the throttle handle extension had more resistance when it was extended or contracted. As it is designed, it slides in and out with just the bare minimum pressure, even if unintentional. This was also corrected (at least temporarily) with some clever use of thread tape but it required some disassembly which very well might have voided the warranty.
Even with these relatively minor issues, the Newport Kayak motor had been a solid performer and I expect to get many more years of use out of it.
plastic boat. My only gripe is that the bracket that holds the troller to the boat basically fell apart this motor has alot of power and I don't think the bracket can actually handle it. I'm going to have to replace as it's a floppy mess this year will see if Newport will help me out. Other that the motor is super durable and powerful no complaints in that department

Excelente avance y su reversa muy fuerte, a diferencia del Endura!
Lo recomiendo porque esta marca se me hace superior a las demás.
I definitely recommend this, and im guesisng any of their motors. Also being saltwater was key considering thats my main usage. Just dont skip on the battery. Paid around 200 canadian for a deep cycle battery.
One key note, when tightening the propeller, dont tighten it too much. It will bend the pin inside and cause motor to wobble while on.
Edit year later- just wanted to add once again, this is key to getting where you want to go. I cant stress enough the importance of a battery. Ive used a deep cycle battery that requires you to maintain distilled water inside to a certain level. It did great, however the waves were so bad in my situation (water ,and most certainly battery acid/electrolytes ) leaked out. Im sure i lost some important part of the fluid i cannot get back. Im going to try a sealed more expensive battery for the conditions i use it in. Double the price however for a raft, unless you have a stable floor with a board, i recommend sealed battery. Also considering buying extra pin and propeller set. This is extremely important as the pin will break if you hit a rock. This is designed to save your propeller from snapping. However you wont be able to move after that pin breaks. Invest in spare parts if youre out far from land like i do.
