6-Foot FT232RL FTDI chip USB TTL serial adapter cable for 5V logic level serial communication
It is built with FTDI FT232 chip, FTDI’s royalty-free VCP allow for communication as a standard COM port and D2XX ‘direct’ drivers provide DLL application programming interface; a great conversion data cord to meet with your needs of debugging, boot-loading, programming, etc.

NOTE: If any installation or usage issues, please email us or you may download a driver and usage guide on FTDI official website

The original FTDI chip is embedded in the USB-A end; 6 way 0.1” header connector with VCC (5V power) and GND (ground), as well as RXD, TXD, RTS and CTS at 5 V logic level.

I got this to build a computer interface (CAT) for an older Kenwood transceiver (TS-50S). My prototyping experiments proved that this was the right product for the job. I liked it so much that I ordered another one with a different connector (not the breadboard socket). This is a great unit and I found that it worked fine with MacOS and Windows; simple plug-n-play. I especially liked that the CTS & RTS lines are really connected and fully supported bi-directionally. If your project calls for 5V signaling levels on a serial interface, this is the device to get you connected!

The USB to serial cable came quickly in good condition. It works well. I am getting this cable to communicate with a microcontroller from my computer. I want to use C++ code and the FTDI library to communicate with a microcontroller from my own computer and computer program. It came with a little instruction booklet that is clear also. I bought two connect two wires between opposite TX/RX wires and used two instances of Arduino IDE to send messages through the cables both connected to the same computer. This way I quickly verified their operation before I move on to trying to use the FTDI library.

It works rather well. It states FTDI, I believe it is because it does work rather snappy unlike the FTDI knock-offs out there. I'm not going to hack up the USB end to find out if a chip is stamped FTDI or not. I'm happy it works well.
