Nice Rechargeable Batteries for my FZ55 Kodak Camera

DO NOT USE THESE BATTERIES if using a Kodak FZ55 PixPro Camera in VIDEO MODE, these batteries have a flaw in them that they WILL NOT WORK for VIDEO RECORDING. The flaw is they have too high an internal temperature, and the camera will issue a warning that the battery temperature is too high and shut down the camera within 3 to 4 seconds when trying to shoot video clips. Rendering these batteries totally useless for VIDEO RECORDING! This ONLY happens when attempting to record video on the camera, using them for still photographs is fine, but they absolutely fail miserably for anything to do with video recording.

I bought a total of 4 of these batteries, a 2 pack, and a 2 pack and charger kit from this company, the charger charges the original LB-012 battery, which is the same as a Kodak KLIC7000 battery, such as these are, but this brand seems to have an internal heat problem that the camera senses and shuts down any video recording within 3 to 4 seconds at most.

And I mean the camera turns COMPLETELY OFF, which sometimes causes a corrupted video file on the SD Card, which can further aspirate issues with trying to take still photographs when that happens, as the camera may come back with you need to "format" the SD Card, wiping out any or all still photographs you have taken previously.

If you're lucky, you'll be able to just DELETE the corrupt file and move on, if not, take the SD Card out and put it in an SD Card reader and see if you can salvage your previous photo's before reformatting the card.

And this is why I have dropped my rating down to 2-Stars, as I EXPECTED to be able to take VIDEO recordings with these "SPARE" batteries, turns out I would have been better off to spend the extra $$ for the KODAK BRAND-NAME batteries instead. Lesson learned.

I purchased these for my FZ55 Kodak camera, however when my camera arrived and the battery in it was a different number, I almost sent these back. Glad I found out they DO WORK in the PixPro FZ55 Kodak camera I purchased. And they work just fine, too.

However, with any 3rd party item, like a battery, sometimes they seem a wee bit larger than the original that came with the item. Same thing here, they really aren't bigger, but when trying to install them you might think they are, I have found with most 3rd party batteries, there are some slight differences that when you install them, if you do not line them up squarely with the battery compartment opening, even if just slightly tilted, that's enough to keep them from being inserted.

With these batteries, at least with my FZ55, I must take the 3rd party battery I purchased and make sure it is EXACTLY lined up evenly with the battery compartment, then the battery slid right in perfectly. It might feel slightly tighter than the original battery, as it may be very slightly larger than your original battery. I have found this to hold true with a lot of different cameras and 3rd party batteries I have used over the years. If you line the battery up perfectly with the battery compartment opening, it should slide right in and lock into place.

If your camera doesn't turn on, you may not have lined up or fully inserted the battery correctly. I did this and re-checked myself on my first attempt, I didn't have the battery fully seated, even though I was able to close and lock the battery compartment lid, it was not making the proper contact with the camera power terminals, opened up, pressed down slightly on the battery, re-closed the battery compartment lid and success, camera turned on as it should. SO be aware of this, as folks may think the battery is dead, when all it is is an unsecure connection, or you put an uncharged battery back in by mistake, I know I've made that mistake a time or two. LOL

I've recharged 2 of these in less than 1 hour, and they hold the charge and last a while before needing to be recharged and replaced with a fresh battery.

Yes, I can recommend these batteries, they get the job done, they hold up well under a lot of use.

BTW: I also love the fact these batteries also come in their own small plastic carrying case, so you can put them in your pocket and not have to worry about metal objects, like keys or other things shorting them out or overheating them, that little protective case is a must if you may not have spent funds for a camera case to carry your camera and accessories. Which I'll be purchasing a carrying case very soon for my camera, SD Cards and accessories.
