Worth It
Definitely worth the money. A couple of improvements would make this perfect. I lost a laptop hard drive due to excessive heat a while back. I got a good steel elevated laptop stand after that. It works fine in my home office, but the laptop still gets hot and the exhaust throws a lot of heat. It's also not something I'm going to carry around with me. At work or elsewhere in the house, the laptop gets hot enough to actually be painful to the touch after a little time on a flat surface. This cooling pad is an excellent solution. I have mine plugged into a USB A port on the old laptop, but I suppose you could power it directly if you had a USB A to wall plug adapter. I like my set up because it's more easily portable this way and for a 30 minute to 1 hour meeting where I don't have a power cord in my laptop, it's been fine. I haven't done any testing to see how much it drains the battery, but the fans aren't going draw a lot of power. Pretty sure it would easily last 2 - 3 hours in this mode before the battery got low enough for concern.Pros:1. Thin enough to fit in my laptop bag with my laptop. I have a small fabric case, not a suitcase.2. Moves a lot of air. After a 9 - 10 hour day, the laptop is cool to the touch and even the laptop fan exhaust is barely warmer than room temperature.3. Very lightweight.4. Very quiet.5. Even w/o elevating the pad with the feet, it circulates plenty of air6. Inexpensive. @ $20 to save your laptop from meltdown. I'd say 100% worth it.Cons:1. Has feet in the rear to raise/angle the laptop BUT the included stick-on rubber pads are not great at preventing the laptop from sliding when elevated.Suggested improvements:1. Add a raised edge at the bottom or include more or thicker rubber pads to do a better job of preventing slips when elevated. I suspect they could also coat the mesh base with anti-slip material.2. Add fan speed control. There is only 1 speed. It is quiet and definitely does the job, but it would be nice to have an option here.3. USB C. there are 2 USB connectors in the back. 1 for power and I guess 1 for a peripheral. Both are USB A. If you have newer equipment you'll need an adapter. This really isn't a big deal as adapters and cords are cheap, but it can be kind of annoying.4. Add a fan cage or additional structural supports around the fans. I shouldn't do this, but I frequently grab the cooling pad with the laptop on top to carry it into a different meeting room or room in the house. There are no supports around the fan cutouts and it is easy to compress the pad and the fans scrape on the case. You have to remember to grab the pad differently. I don't think the slight bit of extra weight would be a problem.Recommendation: If you're worried about laptop heat, get this. Great value, good purchase, would buy again.

My laptop is huge, with an 18" screen. As you can see in the pics, the laptop completely covers the cooler. However when you look underneath you see three good sized fans that are always moving air. I know a few other reviews said the fans were noisy, but they are much quieter than my own laptops fans when they get revved up. The slight noise doesn't bother me, and the normal office sounds generally drown it out completely anyway. I think the blue lights are kind of gimicky, but my 12 y/o son thinks it 'looks cool' so there is that. My laptop also has a good grip on the slightly canted angle of the cooler, and becuase the top of the cooler is metal, it has never slipped or felt insecure. For me the angle helps me type as well.
In summary, I'm surprised by how well this thing does. I can still get my laptop to get hot quickly when it's doing hard work, but the cooler helps the overall temps to remain noticeably lower than before, thus hopefully extending the life my comptuer.

I wasn't sure I needed a cooler, but after hearing the fans on my new-ish laptop wind up every time I did something even moderately stressful, I figured it couldn't hurt. I do have a powerful gaming laptop, but I do video editing on it, and even with it clocked down the fans get loud when I'm processing video. This is especially true with 4k. The whole laptop gets warm, especially the bottom. I bought this cooler figuring it couldn't hurt. Immediately I noticed the whole laptop 'feels' cooler. Using core-temp I note that my idle speeds were generally over 120f, now as you can see in the pics, when nothings going on my temps are generally below 100f. It won't prevent your laptop from getting hot if it's working hard, but it sure does decrease the time it spends at those higher temps. Warm ups take longer, and cool downs are much faster. As I generally consider heat the enemy of all things electronic, I'm glad this cooler keeps my laptop that much lower in temp so as to hopefully extend it's life.Reviewed in the United States on March 11, 2024
