The garden itself is sturdy and attractive. Everything you need to set it up is in the box, follow enclosed instructions and *add your choice of seeds! The process is that simple.
Now, just wait. Patience! It will grow quickly, though it doesn’t seem that way at the time. Pruning is important, so I tend to prune mine directly onto my salad plate. The lettuce is wonderfully tender and tasty. There is one added perk, the InBloom garden itself brings a bright, cheerful touch of freshness to your kitchen!
Because I tend to overthink everything, I contacted the Customer Service Dept with a list of questions and both times the rep I got was knowledgeable and able to offer suggestions which were helpful to me. I’ve had only good experiences so far.
Now I plan to expand a bit, adding cherry tomatoes and small peppers. I hope to have equal success!

Works good for the price!
I got the Inbloom 5 pod in green. I was searching for a smaller hydroponics unit that would fit on a shelf next to my sage colored Aerogarden one. This one was the right size and the green looked close to the sage color. I was thrilled when I got it, and it was the same color! In comparison the Aerogarden one it's not as easy to use but for the price it's a good machine. A few tips I learned. The first tip is when putting your seeds in the pods try to get them down the hole as far as you can. My black seeded simpson lettuce seeds weren't far enough in and when they sprouted the roots grew out. I tried pulling one out and pushing the root down in and it ended up dying. That maybe wasn't such a bad loss because it was the one in front of the water level meter so I can see the level easier. I also have Buttercrunch lettuce and a Aerogarden Basil in the other pods that are doing good. Tip two: Premix your water and plant food into a bottle and use that to fill your machine as the level gets lower. I was used to the Aerogarden and thought when it got low you would add the plant food directly into the machine. I ended up putting too much plant food in. Tip 3: make sure your plant's leaves aren't preventing the water gage from going up when filling with water. My lettuce leaf was holding it down and when the seed pods popped up I realized it was too high with water. Tip 4: it has two different light settings one is for vegetables and one for flowers make sure you have the right one on for what you're growing. It's a little hard to read the settings on the top because the writing is very small and faint. Tip 5: make sure your light isn't much higher than your plants. When you first start have it as low as it will go. Then as they grow keep raising it. This will prevent your plants from being stringy. Overall, I am very happy with my Inbloom unit. I think it's a good machine for an affordable price! It came extremely well packaged in this cool box. You might have to put the pump in place (I think mine wasn't and maybe the sponge wasn't in it, but it was pretty obvious where it was supposed to be). I like the covers to keep the light out on pods that aren't in use. The pod labels were kind of a pain to get on. I couldn't get the tabs to stick. But they stayed on even without the tabs tucked under. I didn't notice a difference in the pod moss quality from Aerogarden. They seemed to work just as good as long as you get the seeds down in there far enough and they are much cheaper. The light is a little hard to slide up and down. The plug in the back pulls out easily. The lights are much pinker in color than the Aerogarden but they seem to work just as well. Pretty soon I will be eating my lettuce. I've already harvested a few Basil leaves.

Package arrived quickly. I ordered this with plans tonhave a counter top kitchen herb garden. The Inbloom had full instructions but also a handy, I think waterproof material, quick start guide. The quick quide was easy to follow, with photos, and I was able to set up in just a couple minutes. The Basil seeds I had were a couple years old and I really did not think they would all germinate but within just a couple days, we had growth. Attached photos show basil after about 3 weeks! The light is on a timer which is nice. I will say that the LED lights ARE BRIGHT. There is no dimmable feature. BUT, I mean, we are growing plants and it is clearly set up that way for success. There is absolutely ZERO noise from this thing! Kits came with everything you need, except seeds.

So easy to grow a mini garden in your home or office! The photo is my kale and lettuce exactly two weeks after planting the seeds. The inBloom behind the front one is where I had to transplant my kale after harvesting which seemed to grow the fastest. The set-up was extremely easy. They are portable and can be put practically anywhere. Once turned on, the water pump and lights cycle itself so all you have to do is make sure the water doesn't go empty in the reservoir. It is literally fool proof for someone like me who forgets to water my plants on a daily basis. In fact, I love these mini hydroponic systems so much that I'm buying two more for my herbs as I write this!
I suggest getting at least two of these inBloom hydroponic systems if you can to transplant any plants that seem to be growing at a faster rate and taking over the other plants. I tried to plant similar seeds that have the same germination rate, and height which will help with one overtaking another. I guess my kale had other plans.
I had enough for salad yesterday and also today with the kale and as you can see, the other lettuce will need to be harvested. I'm amazed as the plants were only seeds two weeks ago. I bought the 12 pod inBloom hydroponic systems and planted the same seeds in three of the pods for each variety. I planted 4 varieties of lettuce/kale so they each have 3 pods to grow from which I find plenty for one to two people every other week.
What I planted from left to right: Romaine lettuce, Grand Rapids Green Leaf Lettuce, Buttercrunch Lettuce and in the back black inBloom just recently transplanted and harvested is dwarf Siberian Kale which is perfect for mini hydroponic systems!
The lights will be bright and light up an entire room so I have mine in their own room and behind a make-shift screen of cardboard which helps quite a bit when they are on at night.
I do suggest getting the 12 pod system. You won't regret it!

Works great! I cannot seem to keep the light from falling off but might be user error. Anyways I got the fruit seeds. The picture shows these plants having tomatoes but its misleading. These will not fit in here long enough to harvest. This is great to start the plants but you will need to transfer them as mine have already hit the light.
