Just as described!
The instruction manual has great pictures, it's precise and clear for somebody like me that needs that step by step, its easy to understand just follow the instructions. Came with everything I needed exactly as described, and hoped it wasn't too small but it was actually larger then I thought yet still a compact set that's perfect for my kitchen. I can extend the lamp or shorten it if I need to hide it beneath the cabinets, I love this!The features are amazing, I'm really happy that with a gentle touch you can use the buttons at the top, that way no harsh pushes to the buttons will make it break or get stuck overtime. Love this compact indoor garden compared to my outdoor garden because I don't have to deal with pests like white flies and ants, and can easily reach over and grab my herbs and peppers. Cannot wait to have my little seeds sprout, thank you!

POSITIVES:
* It really does work (so far). I had my doubts as my seeds took over 10 days to sprout so I thought the product was defective, but as you can see I have sprouts going and they look healthy.
* I appreciate the nature of light that is adjustable and where you can raise/lower the light source to customize it to what your plants need.
* The product is really quiet - you can barely hear the water pump or the light.
* The timing function works as described - I can vouch for this as I left on a 3 day vacation and I set it for 12 hours on, 12 hours off, and it worked accordingly. This is a nice feature as other grow lights don't have timers.
NEGATIVES:
* Maybe this was just me, but I found the snap-in of the grow light rod difficult.
* The little dirt pods are not something where you can buy a replacement, and I don't think this system would work if you just packed dirt into the cages (I think it would dissolve, but I'll try it in the future). That inherently is very wasteful in making this currently a single-use thing, where once you use all 12 pods, you are totally out of luck. (In retrospect, I should have used 6 pods and spaced them out so there was more room to grow). I suppose you could put other seedling cups on top of the surface and just use this as a regular grow light without the hydroponic qualities, but that still seems like a very sizable issue that you currently can only use the product as instructed ONE TIME.
* The written instructions have some idiosyncrasies. For example, they tell you to "clean it for the first time" regarding the seedling block, but you wouldn't clean it since it's made of packed dirt. The directions on when to fertilize are also a little opaque. They tell you to mix the fertilizer into 1 liter of water, but if the tank is already going and filled, adding the additional 1 liter is going to just about overflow the tank. (Regarding the fertilizer, it doesn't fully dissolve in the bottles and I'm not sure if that's an issue.) I just fertilized my sprouts for the first time, and since my tank was still quite full, I just added a squirt of each into the water hole, so we'll hope that works adequately.
Overall, this is a decent initial foray into hydroponic growing and looks to have a lower price point than some other offerings, but if you are serious about it, I'd think you might be able to find a product that has pod refills with better instructions and the same type of capabilities where paying a bit more would likely be worth it.

I've started seeds for gardening with a grow light over the past few years, and this seemed like a more convenient and less-mess way to not only start seeds but have fresh plants growing in my kitchen area. I've selected cilantro, parsley, and lettuce to try with this product.
