Held up to testing, will be going a larger larp for a week so I'll come back and update. From what I've seen so far it makes a amazing distance keeping blade. Has a little more give then normal when swinging but not enough to start to worry especially for the price. I did have to change fighting styles to use it to the fullest. Less sweeping swings and more quick stabs to keep distance. I bought this thinking I could use it to keep multiple targets at a save distance but realized it is better at keeping one or two just out of range. Most people I run into have 30-35 in, meaning I could use multiple jabs to keep almost a ft between me and their blades. If you have the stamina to keep stabbing or just want that extra half second to react it's definitely a option. I suggest carrying a smaller back up. A lot of skilled players know how and when to push it out and lunge in. It's to long to pull back quick enough and has to much give when you need seconds. I found using it to keep distance while having my axe ready for close combat worked amazingly. Also packs some punch I can clearly feel it through gambeson.

This is a nice, if not historical, replica of a Viking sword. The design is evidently a generic foam sword pattern, with Viking-style furniture added on. The result, for those interested in such things, is close to a Petersen Type Z pattern (for those who weren't interested, Dr. Petersen undertook possibly the most exhaustive ever study and classification of unearthed swords of the Viking age). But the similarity ends at the pattern of the pommel and guard, because the rest is less like a classic Viking sword than a fantasy of what a berserker warrior might carry. The blade is too long and barely tapered for its length, meaning it feels heavier than it really is; and the hilt is overly long, being more of a hand-and-a-half sword (as you can see). Because of the weight, the plain rubbery grip is a bit too skinny to give good control, and the texture is just rather uncomfortable in any case; this was easily solved by wrapping it with some leather cord, about a 20 minute job but well worth it. (Obviously the color is optional.)

Now to the good points: The blade has a distinct fuller running its length, much better-looking than some foam swords which use a raised rib for stability; the forward balance point on the sword makes it seem much heavier than it truly is, giving one the feeling of hefting a massive piece of steel rather than a foam-and-plastic construction; it's a very handsome prop, practice or LARP weapon, and it feels downright good in my hand- once the aforementioned hilt wrap was finished, that is. As to the historical aspects, fiction is full of Viking heroes weilding two-handed swords, so there's plenty of room there for this sword.

For the price it's a very nice piece and I'm happy to have it in my collection.

Only reason I am giving 3 stars is the name and function based off name. While it is a beautiful piece, affordable functional and cool it will only work for fullest of combat larps and cosplay. It is hard yet whippy..... hard as if you swing it with any effort it will sting and leave a bruise, whippy to the point any real skill sword play is hindered. I help run a full contact larp in FL it barely passed the test and due to the fact we accept boffers, roleplayers and newbies you want a sword that doesn't drag on a swing. I think the core would be reusable if you took 6-12 inches off.

We use "lightest touch" combat rules for our LARP and the weapons have strict criteria to be allowed in the game. This blade has passed the test for slash attacks only (no thrusting). It has been through an entire season of combat and still looks nearly new, so I expect to have this one for a long time. It has pretty good weight to it for a foam weapon, close to the Nerf Marauder. I did have to add a leather wrap to the hilt, but for the price of this sword not a big deal. Very happy with this find, I just wish I could remember the manufacturer...

These come in different lengths. We got a pair that was a bit long and unwieldy. Our fault.

This foam sword looks great! The silver parts actually shine and reflect light, they aren't just a light grey. The balance is a bit off but works well as a two handed weapon. While it is a slashing replica sword, the tip is so unsupported that just leaning the foam sword against a wall tip down bent the foam and the creases there from so little pressure frustrate me. I understand safety precautions yet the foam at the tip being that flimsy makes me inclined to not purchase another.
