1000W 120AC to 120AC isolation transformer by Zhejiang Zhengxi Electrical Technology Co. weighs about 20lb, and packed into 7"x4.75"x10" box with multi - function display(please see pictures with unloaded and loaded to portable digital oscilloscope) and on/off switch on front panel. On the back panel there are input power 120 VAC and 2 isolated 120VAC output sockets which accept USA and European? style power cords. Also on the back there is a switch(called Mode Switch) with Standard and Special positions for isolated 120 VAC. In Standard position ground and neutral are disconnected and in Special position they are connected. Please note that the case is grounded to the incoming 120 VAC power line ground wire. The transformer works pretty good so far(it is about1 month since I have it). Cons - metal case has very sharp corners, it is to easy to cut hands so I filed these and I also replaced these European style socket with US style ones. Nevertheless, all in all it worths all the money.

Been using this for a 3-4 weeks, as my very old 1:1 transformer went tango/uniform after 50 years of use &. thought I would splurge with this replacement. The first thing I did was to open it up. It is very well constructed (especially for China production). It is wired EXACTLY as I would have wired for my service bench (set in the "special" switch position) & provides complete isolation from the mains supply & earth ground. Giving this a full 5 stars as I was expecting to have to make changes while I was inside the cabinet. So the other switch position has the outlet ground tied to one side of the output sockets (as expected). Anyway, if other arrangements would have been needed, adjustment to the wiring would have been easy to adjust inside the case.

The LCD meter is a nice touch (the same product is available here on Amazon as a component). The Power Switch/Circuit Breaker is also appreciated (although it appears to be overrated in this case).

It's also worth mentioning that the case of the unit is tied to the power cord ground (but NOT to the 2 outlets) as it should be.

The heavest load I've used so far with this was about 9 amps which it handled with only a 1.6 volt drop. But thinking about this, I think I will limit this use to just a bit less than that.

This transformer appears to work correctly in my cursory testing: A light bulb from isolated hot to isolated neutral lights, while from isolated hot to real earth ground or isolated neutral to real earth ground, the bulb does not light.

The switch on the back, labeled "mode switching", in "standard" mode connects what is the hot pin on the isolated socket to the ground pin on the isolated socket. And in "special" mode, the GND is a no-connect and is lifted. I thought this was an odd choice and rewired it so the switch either passes through real earth ground or floats it--that is how this device should be wired. Thus 3 stars.

Note: I didn't do an capacitance testing for coupling or voltage leakage testing. Such tests should be preformed before relying on this item as a safety device for electronics work.
