I purchased this as I have a Microsoft Surface Book equipped with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti display adapter. I do a good deal of video recording and editing. I burned out my last tablet and my current one would constantly kick up the fan and would sometimes glitch out as the internal fans on these tablets are simply junk. After a good deal of research, I settled on this. To my absolute surprise, just using this without even having the fan turned on, resolved my overheating issues. It was a miracle. I think it was because of the open circulation space below the device does a good job dissipating the heat by itself. I do usually leave the fan on, turned up about 25%. At that level it is not very noisy and provides a good deal of air flow. I actually like the noise a little bit as it breaks up the deafening silence of my office without distracting me with music or interfering with phone conversations. I also like the LED lighting. It's cool and adds some personality to my workspace. This was definitely worth the purchase and my only regret was not having gotten this earlier. It may have saved my first Surface Book. This will be a standing recommendation for my clients who routinely use Laptops as desktop computers.
Update: 5/2/2024 - Still loving this purchase and wishing I would have bought it long before. The fan makes some noise but not bad at 25%. As mentioned above I actually welcome than fan noise at that level. Turned all the way up it is definitely noisy. But I rarely use this setting and when I do it is for good reason such as heavy video editing that is putting a significant load on my Surfacebook. I'd rather deal with the noise and know that my expensive Surfacebook is not burning up. Again, it's rare that I ever crank it up that high. I really like the lights on this too. I change them on a daily basis just to mix things up a bit and add a little variety to a desk that doesn't change much. I highly recommend this device. Highly effective.

Best Laptop Cooling Pad/Lap Desk
This guy is absolutely worth every penny. I recently got an ASUS ROG 2022 STRIX laptop, with a Ryzen 7 6800U and RTX 3060. When playing Back For Blood my CPU was hitting around 85C (Max operating temp is 95C) and 75-80C on the GPU. After using this fan and setting the fan speed via the incorporated dial to roughly half way, my temps dropped substantially. I was now looking at 60C on the GPU and 65-70C on the CPU. It does get a little noisy if you max the fan out but its really not bad. Nothing some headphones cant fix. With headphones on you honestly cant hear a thing. The lighting is a neat touch and the metal dust filter over the intake fain is great. Really cuts down on the dust being sucked into your laptop affecting cooling in the long run.Disclaimer, a majority of laptops have their intake vents on the bottom and exhaust on the sides/back, but if yours happens to be the opposite I'm not sure how well this product will work. The entire purpose of the foam is to isolate your intake and exhaust vents from each other to prevent your intake from pulling in hot air from your exhaust. I've heard it doesn't work well for Lenovo Legion laptops but I don't know how true that is. Just something to keep in mind.

I have an Alienware M15 R6 with an 11th gen i7 and an RTX 3070 and this thing gets toasty. It will thermal throttle which just leaves performance on the table. CPU will hit 100C easy when turbo boost kicks in and it's the same story for the GPU. My two screen shots show the temps at idle and one while playing cyberpunk 2077, now I rarely ever even hit 80C on the CPU. I've tried a lot of cooling pads and this style is the only kind that really gives any reasonable results.
Pros:
It really cools very well
Good height adjustment
Solid construction, the clips that hold the laptop in place are metal compared to where most cooling pads use plastic. The foam creates a good seal, and the filter is easy to remove and clean if needed.
Cons:
Yes, it can get loud, it eventually turns into white noise and you adjust to it however, you're definitely going to want to use headphones when gaming.
The need for external power, having to have another power brick connected is a bit of a downside making this not a very portable solution. Thankfully, for me I game at home and don't need to move the setup around to often. When I take my laptop to the office I don't need the cooling pad so I use this primarily at home.
Who is this for?
If you want a cooler running system for gaming and you don't want to have to reduce your settings on your games to keep it from getting to hot then this is a fantastic buy. and I highly recommend.
