Product Description

Kodak Professional Portra 800 is a color print film with an ISO of 800 which is fast enough to catch the action in difficult lighting situations, often without on-camera flash. The grain is now even finer than ever before. And the extra speed allows you to pick up more detail in the foreground and background, even in low light.

Good film, missing 1 roll though

Good film, missing 1 roll though
I'm not sure how to contact Kodak, but my package was shipped with 4 rolls. Not that big of a deal, but did pay for 5, and it's not cheap. 2 of the rolls were situated in the box to take up the space of 3 rolls, so it seems deliberate in making it seem like the box was full. How can this be fixed?

Portra 800 is to be used in a studio setting or in a 2-3000K light setting. I shot it indoors and my images were crazy warm. My mistake. Not a knock on the film, just a tip in case you wondered. Beautiful grain, and so sharp! I use this film on an RZ67 and ProTL 645, and love it! Nice, clear, warm tones, extremely fine grain, and such a distinguished look. :) My absolute favorite film, except for price. Completely worth it, though.

Portra 800 is a wonderful film. It has a slightly bolder color palate than Portra 160 or 400, and that can be a good thing in a lot of situations, plus the latitude for low light situations is really nice. Dear Kodak: Lower the price to make it more comparable to Portra 160 and 400, and I'll buy more 800. Until then, I have to admit this film gets less use, even though I really like it. I like all the Portras.

Box of film came, had no defects. Loaded it up in an old camera and the pictures took just fine. This type of film is best suited for in-door usage, however.

I have purchased portra 800 mostly for wedding work, the film is awesome for getting ready shots in lower light, it has very fine almost non-existent grain which for this speed of film is amazing. I love Portra's skin tones and warmth. I wish it came in 220 as well.

Great, neutral skin tones but loves a lot of light so expose at least 1.5 stops over. Leave the low light situations to Portra 400.

5.0 out of 5 stars Expensive, but one of the best colour films ever invented
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on June 21, 2017
Yes, Portra 800 is the most expensive film on the market, but it is undeniably one of the best colour films ever invented. In the days before digital, no ISO 800 film was even close to being this good, so it just shows that film technology has kept progressing. Portra 800 has amazingly fine grain for the ISO. Beautiful creamy colours, perhaps slightly muted compared to the most vivid films, but great in most situations - and of course wonderful skin tones. Works beautifully in all conditions. Any photo lab can develop it with no problems, it's a perfect standard C41 film to them. Genuinely ISO 800. I know some people claim it's not ISO 800, but it is. Of course you can shoot it at ISO 400 as well, it has wide exposure latitude so you can't go wrong really. However, if you don't need ISO 800, you may as well save money and use Portra 400.
