Product Description

Kill Switch for Car

DC12V remote control car battery switch

Why do we need this device?

1. If we leave the car for a long time (15 days or more), the car battery will be continuously consumed or even exhausted, causing battery damage. What if the power goes out one day? You will not be able to start the car! The device cuts power and you simply use the remote to turn on the battery when you need to use the car.

  • Solve the problem of slow battery drain easily, no matter how long your car sits, the battery is always fully charged.
  • Use the remote to disconnect the battery and thieves can't start your car without the remote.
  • The isolating switch will directly protect the power off due to short circuit of the load. The battery disconnect switch also acts as a protection circuit.

So if you are an engineer like me this 2 wire cut off will work on the positive post
5 Stars
So if you are an engineer like me this 2 wire cut off will work on the positive post
So here are pictures of the manual with some details and diagrams of what I am talking about. Would be nice if that was in the product description. So if you are an engineer like me this 2 wire cut-off will work on the positive post instead of the negative post for use as a shut-off.In my truck, my negative post is almost impossible to connect to and also I run dual batteries using an auto-isolation circuit so this needed to be set on the positive side of my battery to prevent discharge through the positive cable as the ground is shared between both batteries and the auto-switch is on the positive side and would require a major rewire job.So before you connect anything under the hood this is what you need to do with 86 and 85 the POWER POINTS for the electronics. The connectors for the batter on the outermost of the relay are NOT polarity sensitive so do not care if it is positive or negative or what direction the power is flowing.YOU MUST CHANGE THIS BEFORE YOU CONNECT ANYTHiNG TO USE THIS ON THE POSITIVE POSTWhat the manufacturer did is they tapped the negative 85 using a short wire to the negative post for the circuit side then using a longer wire run 86 to the positive battery post. Then the relay when switched on connects the out port to the negative battery cable for the body ground. As this is ACTUALLY a 2-wire cut-off relay and THOSE 2 wires on 85 and 86 are what MATTER as to how they connect to power, the manufacturer just uses a short cable to the BATTERY SIDE of the cut-off part of the relay and that is what makes it polarity sensitive for negative side use.BUTwhat you can actually do is connect the relay to the positive post and the output to feed to the rest of the vehicle. the CENTER posts are the ones that you CAN NOT misconnect. To use this on the positive side instead do the following.REVERSE the black and red wires on the center 2(two) connections (85- 86+) so that the negative side 85- is connected to the long red wire that connects to the negative battery post and the positive side 86+ becomes the black short wire that connects to the positive post of the battery.A relay is a Relay or a basic switch that is opened and closed by a magnetic coil being energized and in itself the contacts are not polarity sensitive. It is the electronic circuit on the CENTER post which IS POLARIZED!!!Doing the above or even eliminating the manufacturer cables and electing to use longer red and black cables to provide power to the 85 and 86 on the relay to the correct terminals will allow this to work on the positive side of the battery. Not all installations can use the negative side of the battery in my case I need to be able to cut off the positive side due to the DUAL battery system and shared negative connection. If this is reposted I will add photos of my configuration when the sun comes out as the Delivery was late at night and there was not a lot of light and I have been dealing with the power drain problem for some time and disconnecting and reconnecting my battery using a jump box. In my truck someone tried to jimmy the door locks so instead of replacing them I added power locks and an RFID pad to unlock the doors, there is no other way as there is not a working key lock, it has to be the RFID pad or using the power locks relay via the wireless door lock remote. Have to get access to the hood release which is INSIDE a LOCKED vehicle to then attach the jump pack. I have jump posts on the outside but too much cable causes too much resistance and it will not start with a dead battery and the jump pack with all that cable resistance even using 2 gauge cable is to much resistance for efficient starting. But the door locks will operate.

Just finished installing; took about 15 minutes and most of that was figuring out the best placement for the module in my 2014 VW Jetta Sportwagen TDI's relatively tight engine bay. If you can connect jumper cables and know what direction to turn a wrench, it's very easy. You can probably figure out from these pics if the instructions don't make sense to you.

Our wagon has an electrical draw that no shop has been able to diagnose thus far. Sometimes, it can go a few days or a week without any issues, and then all of a sudden, you park it for 5 minutes and doesn't have enough power to start. It's left us stranded a couple times, and sometimes even our Noco battery pack isn't enough to get it started again. I've been disconnecting the battery when we park as a stopgap until we can figure out where the electrical fault is, but it's annoying doing that every time we park. This makes it much easier and more convenient.

Also, some of the 1-star review note that if they click the "off" button accidentally while the car's on, they lose all power and risk an accident. That should only be happening if your alternator is shot; once the car is running, you can disconnect the battery and it will stay on (you won't be able to start it again until you reconnect it, though). I tested it in the video and it keeps running all the same.

I have a 98 4runner that has a horrible draw, the battery is dead almost overnight, and I can't find it for the life of me. So I got to the point that I was just disconnecting the ground every time I parked it, and that worked, so I bought this because it's literally the same thing without having to pop the hood and actually do the work. The install took like 4 minutes and it works perfectly. Hit the "on" button then start the truck, turn off the truck then hit the "off" button. It's fool proof. The installation was super easy, and it works exactly as advertised. The only setback I encountered was that the car battery was positioned high up close to the hood, requiring a different connection to mount the device lower and allow the hood to close. However, I managed to find a solution. It would be beneficial to include a connector for situations like that. I highly recommend this product, especially if you’re dealing with electricity leaks or if you leave your car unused for extended periods and want to preserve the battery.

I used this product for my Toyota FJ cruiser.

The product is set for a negative pole installation. In my case, it didn't work on the negative pole. Instructions provided the option for positive pole installation. I re-arranged the connections following the provided diagram. It worked perfectly on the positive pole.

The engineering for this product provides for an upright installation. In this manner the cover won't fill up with water and short the switch. For the price, this is a better option cause' the upgraded switches just provide a more water resistant casing with more installation options but, the insides are the same. I use my SUV as a vehicle not as a submarine so I don't have to spend 59$ instead of this 20$ option.

To make it work, I removed the upper connection ear to avoid contact with the closed hood. Also, I didn't use the provided pole cause' I have a multi-port pole which provides a slot for this switch. To convert it into a positive pole connection, I switched the cables and used the red one (the longer cable) to connect the system to the negative and the black (shorty) for the positive (Note: You can re-use the cables but you CAN NOT switch the polarity refer to product sticker). Lets see how much it will last (Refer to the attached pictures).

2 inconveniences with this product:

1. Not fool proof instructions. That is why some buyers fail to accomplish the proper installation.
2. The provided aluminum pole is very brittle. It broke on me while testing different set ups.

Regardless of these issues, it appears to be a great product.

The remaining question is,

Is the remote code tamper secure?

The new battery would sometimes discharge from sitting just a few days. Other times it could sit for weeks without a problem.
Instead of spending hours or days trying to troubleshoot the problem, we decided to try this device, at least to get us into nice Spring weather!

It was easy to install but wished it contained one more small bolt and nut to mount the negative post further away from the device. Like it is was pretty tight with very little room to work.
It works as advertised and very pleased with the price.

I had a problem with parasitic drain on my battery on my Dodge Journey. My friend is a mechanic who works for Mercedes Benz and he couldn't find the problem so he suggested a battery kill switch. He installed it and it works great.

The main problem I found is that the instructions weren't really clear. My friend, a mechanic figured it out quickly, but again, the instructions are obviously translated to english, so a bit difficult. Also, it was a tough install since the actual battery is just above the wheel well and out of site on the Journey.

This unit comes with 2 remotes, a real bonus, but the instructions show 3 different ways they can be programmed to operate. I found that very confusing and unnecessary. The good thing, is that they come programmed so no need to reprogram. Press 'OFF' and the battery disconnects. Press 'ON' and the battery connects. Easy Peasy.

The added bonus is that this unit can be used as a battery kill switch to protect your vehicle from being stolen because when activated, the car will not start.

The only CON to this is that when you disconnect the battery, you lose the time on the clock. I can live with that. The radio stations remain intact, which is good.
