Product Description
Product Description
Siemens offers a wide array of thermal-magnetic circuit breakers that are the key element for overload and short-circuit protection of your homes electrical system. To provide additional protection Siemens offers circuit breakers to protect against severe electrical shock or electrocution, mitigate the risk of electrical fires and protect against damaging surges and Voltage spikes. Circuit breakers are intended for switching and protection of your home's wiring from high temperatures caused by excess current higher than the rating of the wire. While thermal-magnetic circuit breakers are the key element for overload and short-circuit protection of your electrical system, there are potentially dangerous conditions that do not involve over current.
From the Manufacturer
Siemens space saving, plug in circuit breakers are intended for use in Siemens EQ, Siemens Ultimate, ITE, and Gould load centers and meter combinations that are rated to accept type QT breakers. Check wiring diagram to confirm. To ensure the warranty on a Siemens panel is not voided, the use of Siemens breakers is required. The duplex breakers provide two single pole breakers in the space typically required for only one standard breaker. These duplex, 1/2-Inch frame breakers are ideal when new circuits are required in a panel that has no available spaces.

20 Amps, times TWO
See the pictures to show the difference between the CTL and non-CTL version of this breaker.
The bottom line is that even if the label on your breaker panel states that it accepts QT breakers, they may only fit into a few specific slots. If those slots have standard width breakers already in them, then you will have to shuffle the breakers around to allow these breakers to be placed into the CTL style slot. It is not an issue of a QP versus QT style panel, only a CTL or non-CTL slot location within that panel.

I’m sure it will still function as designed… it’ll just be harder to switch on/off or reset as needed.
