Product Description

Product Description

Siemens offers a wide array of thermal-magnetic circuit breakers that are the key element for overload and short-circuit protection of your homes electrical system. To provide additional protection Siemens offers circuit breakers to protect against severe electrical shock or electrocution, mitigate the risk of electrical fires and protect against damaging surges and Voltage spikes. Circuit breakers are intended for switching and protection of your home's wiring from high temperatures caused by excess current higher than the rating of the wire. While thermal-magnetic circuit breakers are the key element for overload and short-circuit protection of your electrical system, there are potentially dangerous conditions that do not involve over current.

From the Manufacturer

Siemens space saving, plug in circuit breakers are intended for use in Siemens EQ, Siemens Ultimate, ITE, and Gould load centers and meter combinations that are rated to accept type QT breakers. Check wiring diagram to confirm. To ensure the warranty on a Siemens panel is not voided, the use of Siemens breakers is required. The duplex breakers provide two single pole breakers in the space typically required for only one standard breaker. These duplex, 1/2-Inch frame breakers are ideal when new circuits are required in a panel that has no available spaces.

Must be installed into a CTL (Circuit Total Limitation) slot (lower 4 locations) within your Siemens Panel!

Must be installed into a CTL (Circuit Total Limitation) slot (lower 4 locations) within your Siemens Panel!
The QT2020 breaker is a CTL (Circuit Total Limitation) style breaker and can only be installed in certain locations within the breaker panel - usually the lower 4 slots within the cabinet. The buss bar in those lower locations is notched to accept the CTL style breaker (and the standard breaker). These breakers have "lock-out" tabs that prevent them from being installed in other locations, and thus limit the total number of circuits that can be installed into a panel. What really adds to the confusion is that there is a "NON-CTL" version of this breaker (QT2020NC) without the "lock-out" feature and I have seen them at Lowes with the same bar code and stock number. HODO stocks the QT2020NC and charges $24+ for them versus $9+ for the CTL version.See the pictures to show the difference between the CTL and non-CTL version of this breaker. The bottom line is that even if the label on your breaker panel states that it accepts QT breakers, they may only fit into a few specific slots. If those slots have standard width breakers already in them, then you will have to shuffle the breakers around to allow these breakers to be placed into the CTL style slot. It is not an issue of a QP versus QT style panel, only a CTL or non-CTL slot location within that panel.

Used this to replace a faulty breaker.
Make sure your main power switch is off and then install these at an angle until it clicks.
No complaints and it seems made of a durable material and quality components.

Siemans breakers are used in my breaker panel. And one of my breaker plates got broken. So i need to combine my larger qt desighn breakers to slim tandeum to make room. If you have the box i can only use qp version of the breaker on the lower half of the box. And qt versions any where in the box. And found this one. It is half the price they wanted in a lighting store. Lucky i did not need it right away. I have not installed it yet but see no problem with it.

The breaker was too wide to fir into the empty slot in the panel. Amazon refunded the cost after I returned it.

Although they are tighter than a traditional breaker, they do fit in the single pole slots. I used these to free up two poles in my panel to allow for the addition of a 50A breaker for a backup generator. These are amazing and I am more than pleased that I was able to get these on Amazon.

The breaker arrived with a broken switch (toggle?) (one of the two) which I didn’t realize until after the return date.
I’m sure it will still function as designed… it’ll just be harder to switch on/off or reset as needed.
