The remote does not work and there is no way to use the DVD-VCR without it - "menu" cannot be accessed without the remote. The customer service "chat" is extremely lame. Four different people weighed-in on the matter and none has come anywhere near a solution...so far. I'll give them another day to make it good before I repack the whole thing and return it.
