First I would like to complement their tech support, I had a perceived problem and they got back to me much sooner than expected, the same day! What a surprise! I was having trouble setting the unit up. I had plugged it into a charger then attempted to set it up per the manual. No matter what I tried I could not get it to do what the manual said, so I sent an email to support. During the time it took me to calm down, I let the unit continue to charge, then went back for another try. I unplugged it from the charger, turned it on, and there it was, just as the manual showed. Lesson 1, charge it, unplug it, then go to setup. Don't try to set it up while plugged into a computer or a charger, it works much better. I was able to go through all the steps without any problems. Almost. Lesson 2: The only glitch I ran into was trying to set the time, I'm in the Pacific time zone and every time I set the time, it would drop an hour, so I set it to Mountain Time to get it to work. Then it occurred to me, we (the U.S.) are the only country dumb enough to keep changing the time twice year just to screw things up. Now it made sense.
Now in regards to the unit itself. The screen is awesome, large, with an included sun shade, and very sensitive to the touch. The different map views are nice to have and can provide you with varied aspects depending on how you want to view your route. The unit has a lot of functions available, I don't know if I will be using any of them because of the capabilities of what my car already has, but for someone without all the latest stuff built in, this just might have what you are looking for.
The mount is for the windshield, but due to the size of the unit I prefer to mount it onto the dash, which it won't suction to. Some double sided gorilla tape solved that problem. It sits in a position easily readable and within reach to enter destinations, much better than on the windshield, which because of its size and slope makes it difficult to reach. Unless you have arms like an orangutan. I don't.
Would I recommend this? Definitely. The screen size alone is great, coupled with easy setup, and operation, this is well worth the money, even if all you use is the GPS function.
