Hi! I'm Anne, a mom of two beautiful babies named Nala and Kai living in our adopted home in Costa Rica. Our Nalakai Slings are luxurious, soft and stylish baby carriers.
Our motto is inspired by paradise, made with love. I wear my children every day, and I create beautiful and comfortable slings so I can share my passion for baby wearing with others. We use the same luxury materials as other high-end designer slings!
As a mom myself, I know what parents are looking for in a baby carrier. You want to keep your baby safe and secure, while still having the opportunity to look stylish and have fun with the design. So pretty and so soft!
This is really good quality! The fabric is so pretty and so soft! There's definitely going to be a learning curve with it, but the first time I used it felt pretty good. He was secure, his hips were in an m shape and he seemed comfy. I was and to be hands free too which was nice. My little man wasn't having it though after like 10 minutes. He didn't want to be in the wrap or his other carrier either, so I know it wasn't the ring sling. He was just cranky and refusing to sleep, so I swaddled him, rocked him to sleep, and was able to at least use this as a carry assist so one arm was free and the arm holding him wasn't completely dead. That's already super helpful for me since he refuses to sleep unless he's held. I'm excited to try hands free again when he's in a better mood, *hopefully* later today.

Before purchasing this sling I researched it well, found great reviews and confirmed that Pura Vida complies with the CPSIA and ASTM standards. The fabric has been tested for strength and also for low flammability and the unwelded rings have been tested to be lead free and have been weight tested as well. Pura Vida has a Children’s Product Certificate showing their compliance that has been approved by the CPSC. Safety is very important to me and I was satisfied with Pura Vidas compliance with all standards. My baby and I love the slings comfort and support. The fabric is so soft and smooth without even wearing to break it in. The fabric is breathable and is perfect for hot days (may baby runs warm always sweating). The versatile fabric is also perfect for cold weather, by baby keeps warm with the fabric and my body temperature. I purchased this sling when my baby was 2 months old, she is now 4 months. Since purchasing the sling I used it just about everyday. This was the perfect solution for bonding using skin to skin contact in her early newborn stage and loved how silky the fabric would lay on her supple newborn skin. I would twist the tail end for that extra support on her newborn neck. Even now she falls straight to sleep when I'm baby wearing. I just fell in love with this sling. Everywhere I would go people would comment on how stylish and beautiful the sling was. I just had to rave about it to family and even complete strangers. I even made a new mommy friend while shopping she adored my sling and I gave her all the details even helped her search for it on Amazon. People thought that I worked for Pura Vida! I was like I wish!!!! I love this sling so much! I'm just a mommy that was so impressed with the quality and pricing of this sling. I love the business owners story/bio on the Pura Vida website. I even tend to share her story! If you love to support small family businesses here it is! Most importantly I'd like to share a story on a more personal level, a few weeks ago my car was vandalized.On 4/2/2018 I took my son to his music lesson in Chino California and my car was vandalized. My passenger side door window was shattered to pieces and my diaper bag and sons toddler bag was stolen. Inside my diaper bag was my beloved Pura Vida Ring Sling. My wallet was stolen as well because it was inside of my ring sling so I spent hours at the DMV getting a new license the following day and canceling all my credit cards and debit cards I wasn’t concerned about that because the Credit Card companies replace the cards and refund the money. The criminals charged over $2,300.00. Between my sons toddler bag and my diaper bag I lost about $1,000.00 in toddler and baby items as well as my personal items.This was the worst invasion of privacy of ever. I really couldn't afford to purchase a new ring sling and was hoping Pura Vida would be able to offer some type a coupon or discount to buy another sling.With the loss I had taken and having to replenish everything that was already in my diaper bag and toddler bag it was a big burden. Including having to buy a new drivers license and paying the deductible for my car insurance to fix my car window. I was really hurt and sad that my sling was stolen, My most prized possessions I loved so much. I sent Pura Vida an email sharing my story in hopes of a coupon. To my surprise the owner of Pura Vida Ring Sling, Anne Ferris emailed me back herself. She offered to send me a new sling free of charge in hopes to help a fellow mommy out and put a smile on my face. As I read her email it brough tears to my eyes,I could not believe it. My heart was warm and overjoyed! I can't thank Anne and Pura Vida enough for the love and support they showed me. Now I can continue to bond and be close to my baby. I'm definatly going to purchase any future Item from Pura Vida! I will contunue to share my story with others and want people to know how great this product is as well as how much Pura Vida cares about their customers. I hope this review helps people to decide to purchas ethis item and helps out Pura Vida as well because it is well desereved! Thank you for supporting this mommy in a very stressful and trying time.

Update 6/15/2023: YALL. You can wear baby on your back?! This is incredible. I’ve been wearing him on my back for a few days now and it makes a world of a difference. My hands are completely free, I can get SO much more done—gardening, chores, food, walking the dogs, hang drying laundry, etc.,—more comfortable on my body. Blown away. Once you get wearing baby down in the front, try the back. Do a finger walk to make sure the fabric is positioned correctly. Tighten the sling to a little more than your normally would to make this easier. Move the ring to the center of your back. Insert baby like a hip carry. Take the arm on the side baby is on pit it in front of baby. Using both arms, swing baby to the back and get the ring positioned toward the center of your chest. Tighten and you’re good to go! There are YouTube videos of this as well. Happy wearing!!!
Update 6/7/2023: This sling was a AMAZING for me last week. My son and I traveled solo with two flights. I got my little bug all snug in the sling and breastfed him to sleep. He stayed a sleep and all snuggled up into me for 2 hours, both on and off of the plane. The more I’ve used this, the more I’m loving it. I’ve learned if I wear it lower and not directly on my hip, I don’t get as sore as fast. For this reason, I’m bumping it back up to 5 stars. I’ve leaned to love this sling more than any of my other carriers!!
Update 5/19/2023: I have been using this sling for some time now and I will say, it gets so much easier the more you practice. I now know how to keep the ring high on my shoulder. This sling is also AMAZING for breastfeeding!! I still get incredibly sore on my shoulder after wearing this for an extended time but my son (12m, 22lbs) loves the sling!
Original review: As a SAHM with a baby who is attached me me, I have tried all types of carriers. This one by far has the biggest learning curve. It was so frustrating to try to get the treading correct. Once you get it, putting it on and getting baby inside goes pretty quick.
The material is a little scratchy. I usually just wear a nursing bra around the house and then a carrier over that. This irritates my neck when I do it. It will most likely soften the more I use it. My son also likes to turn his head against my body. Sometimes he does hit his head on the rings. Not sure if that’s the product or user error.
Of all my carriers, this one makes me the most sore over time. If I stretch out the shoulder strap, it helps but I still can’t wear this carrier as long as my other ones.
Last tip of advice is to make sure you sit baby in correctly with a deep seat. My LO wasn't a fan of this carrier at first and he did wiggle himself down. But when done correctly, it offers baby good support.
Overall, 4/5 for me. It’s a good carrier but I do have other carriers I enjoy more!
