Honestly this is the best Xbox controller protector out there from what I have seen. I have a bit of a controller collection, and take care of my things. I know that controllers these days just don't last like they used to, so I was in the market for a good, high-quality shell to protect from drops/falls to hopefully reduce the risk of internal damage, but mostly to keep it free from scratches/blemishes.
I tried some AliExpress options with controller shells/silicone skins, but they were all horrible quality, didn't fit right, easily broken, etc. I bought this on a "sale" for around $12 I think, and got two of the black ones. They are sturdy as can be, snap together we'll, use thick/hard plastic, and come with 2 different sets of grips to use depending on the grip pattern you prefer. It has an opening to allow access to the battery compartment, which is perfect for me since I use rechargeable AA's.
It also makes the controller larger and more comfortable to hold in your hands. Microsoft, in their quest to save every penny they can, has not only reduced the quality of their materials and components used in the controller (compare a 360 controller to a Series X controller and you'll see what I mean), but they have also reduced the size pretty significantly to save on quantity of materials used. To the point that it makes my hands cramp, and is widely known to do so for others. Microsoft tried to spin it as "we wanted to make them smaller for kids to use... we're think of the children!", but we all know that's a load of bull.
You may see this listed for $40. As much as I like this shell, I can't recommend you buy it at that price. If you watch for sales on xbox controllers, especially around Black Friday, you can get a new controller for around the same price of $40, or even as low as $30 if you catch it at the right time. So $40 for the shell is ridiculous. But for $10-$15? Absolutely worth it if you want a good shell. I am super happy with mine.
My only comments would be:
-As with any shell, it could conflict with trying to use a charging stand. I don't have one for xbox, but the shell obviously adds thickness/extra plastic that could prevent it from sitting exactly right for various charging stand. Not Otterbox's fault by any means, just something to consider.
- I wish there were more color variations. The dark grey/black, light grey, and two purple versions I think are the only options. How about blue/green/red? Or special versions with art/aesthetics from games like Halo/Gears?
- Where is the PS5 version?!? I have yet to find a good option for the DualSense controller. As mentioned before, AliExpress has (expectedly) failed me here due to cruddy options. Though, otterbox, if you do go this route, you should make sure to not conflict with at least some charging stands since PS5 controllers do not have user-seappable batteries.

Item doesn’t fit Xbox controller at all. Broke item trying to apply it controller. Plastic is cheap and instructions are garbage. Save your money and just buy anything else.
