Battery lasts over 18 hours.
This Emergency Hand Crank Radio has a long-lasting battery. I fully charged the unit then turned on both front lights and turned on the radio. I covered the solar panel so no additional charging was taking place. After 18 hours the front lights became dim but the radio was still working. At 18:37 the radio finally turned off.Hand Crank test:To test the hand crank charging I started with a dead battery and then cranked the unit for 3 minutes. I then turned on both front lights and the radio (again I covered up the solar panel). After 20 minutes, the lights were very dim. At 30 minutes both the lights and radio were dead.Solar Panel test:Starting with a dead battery, I placed the unit in the sun with the solar panel tilted for maximum exposure. There was a mix of clouds and sun during the test. After 6 hours of solar charging, I turned on both front lights and the radio. After 42 minutes the lights became very dim. At 46 minutes the lights and the radio were dead.The radio is a little touchy to tune (small movements of the knob changes frequencies a lot) but is doable using very small movements. The maximum volume is very loud. It does distort some at the maximum volume but is fine at lesser volumes.This unit does not have a “tone alert” (NOAA Weather Alert) function for the weather radio. The NOAA Weather Alert will automatically sound an alarm indicating that there is a risk of severe weather in your area weather you are listening to the radio or not. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. The crank feels very sturdy, radio and wb work amazing. Sos alarm is loud, which is great. Comes with charging chord, and charger works perfectly! Very very well made piece of equipment!!!!! Worth every penny!
