Review Wimaxit 12” Touch MonitorWanted a 10”-12” monitor to use with my video camera. As a YouTube content creator, I use a video camera quite often. I have had problems with framing my shot properly because I am not in the line of sight to the little lcd screen that swivels around for me to see. So I have shot footage only to see later that the object I was talking about wasn’t in frame.I wanted a field monitor to be able to frame my shot.This monitor worked perfectly right out of the box. Just connected the USB-C to the monitor for power and the Mini HDMI cable to the Mini HDMI connector on my video camera and that was it! It just works!I am so excited to use this on the next video and be able to see what is in frame instead of trying to see or guess what the camera is pointed at. It will also make it easy to see if everything is in focus.Next I want to try a wireless HDMI Transmitter/Receiver so all I need is a small usb cable connected to the monitor for power. I have several battery pack options that will make this easy.I also hooked it up to a laptop and it too was simply a matter of plugging in the cables. I used HDMI from laptop to the mini HDMI to the monitor, a usb from the included power supply (like the ones you use for your cell phone) and then another usb cable from the monitor to the laptop to enable the touch screen capability.While I couldn’t fine tune drawing with the touch screen, it does work. I’m guessing there is software somewhere that would enable more control over the touch screen feature.The monitor is lightweight and comes in around a pound, which is really light. Guess without an internal battery, there isn’t much that would make it weigh more.It has a 75mm Vesa mount hole pattern on the back, but I just use an old tablet cradle that I had for a number of years and a custom rig I built years ago for my tablet. So I was in business and I can adjust the monitor to whatever angle I need with a twist of a knob.While I haven’t compared this monitor with other monitors, it does everything I need it to do and then some.There is an on/off switch on the side, just above the multi-switch which controls everything from audio, brightness, contrast, color temperature etc. It actually has a lot of control over the visual aspects that you would expect in a high end monitor. While all I need is a large image area for my purpose, some people will benefit from having all that control over the contrast, brightness, color temperature etc.One of the things I would change is perhaps to add a ¼” x 20 threaded insert for mounting, but like I said, I use a tablet cradle and it works just fine.And lastly the on/off button and the multi-control rocker switch both feel a bit weak or “plasticy”. If anything were to fail, it would probably be one of those.Obviously, time will tell as I put hours of use on it, but so far, really pleased with the ease of connectivity and setup which took only as long as it takes to read the manual and plug in cables.Bye the way, it does come with three cables, the power brick and a small stand. It also comes with a clear plastic screen protector.Recommendation: If you need an external monitor for your video camera, this should work well for you.
