I had my mom's old magnifying glass which had an abrasion in the center of the glass and it impaired
my ability to see tiny print. One of my lens fell out of my frame which my husband put back in, damaging the frame and it has made it more difficult to read fine print since my glasses have progressive lens. All of the lighted magnifying glasses have been terrific. I especially like them being lighted due to my kitchen only having one light on the ceiling. I would buy these again.

I have two sets of these so that I can have them everywhere. They're perfect for reading print on medicine bottles, labels on electronics, and the microscopic font on some instruction manuals. I gave them as gifts to two other friends, who also love them. We're all of a "certain age" when it's hard to read small print.

I'm only giving 4 stars because I wish they were USB rechargeable. Don't like having to dispose of used batteries.

I had bought two sets of these about a decade ago, and they were OK, maybe 3 stars. Over the years they had suffered some abuse, and some were lost, so I felt it was time to replace them. The lenses were clear but the LEDs were never bright enough to my taste.
After searching Amazon, and looking at alternatives, I decided to try them again, hoping that they had upgraded the LEDs, and they did! These new ones have significantly higher illumination than the old ones.

Amazing product at an amazing price with amazing longevity. The functionality and battery life of this product is unbedayumlievable. I first bought them as a pack of two about 8 years ago in a large and medium duo package. I used the large at home on my mantle, and medium in my purse. When I recently finally needed to repurchase I cannot tell you how happy I was to find them still available and, even better, packaged this way. Now, the large is on my mantle, the medium in my glovebox, and the small in my purse. I cannot recommend this product highly enough. Such a cheap, practical, perfect solution to so many common problems. Now, I just smile in situations when I would previously be rendered helpless by all manner of stupid idiotic nasty fine print and bad lighting situations. Documents, maps, and dark restaurants with tiny font menus don't frustrate or scare me anymore. I feel back in control. This is a legitimate quality of life gamechanger kind of product and would be a great gift for anyone you know with situational reading/sight issues.

I ordered these because I wanted a lighted magnifying glass with a glass lens, which I have had difficulty finding in local stores. I really didn't need two, but that's how they came, the price was good, and they were well-reviewed, so I went ahead and ordered the set. I also preferred the LED lighting on these to the incandescent lights available on some other lighted magnifying glasses I looked at. When I received them, they came via USPS in a padded envelope which was bent down the middle in order to forcibly cram the package into my mailbox. Needless to say, I was concerned by the condition of the packaging, considering the contents. I also noticed that nowhere on the outer envelope was there anything indicating the contents were fragile, or not to bend. When I opened the package, the magnifying glasses were packed in one of these heat-sealed flat plastic packages. The lenses appeared to be undamaged, so I was relieved, at first. I inserted batteries into the larger glass, and the lights worked, but the battery cover didn't seem to fit sufficiently tightly. When my husband and I messed with it more, the battery cover kept falling off when barely touched.

Then I inserted batteries into the smaller glass. The lights came on, and I was unable to shut them off short of removing the batteries. None of the three switch positions would shut the lights off.

Good points were that the battery cover did seem to fit more firmly on the smaller glass, and my husband, who is an amateur photographer, was satisfied with the lens quality in both glasses.

I'm not sure if it was lack of quality control on the part of the manufacturer, or poor packaging that allowed the items to be damaged during shipping, but I'm going to have to return both items and try again. If the items were both in good working order before shipping, then I would suggest that the manufacturer consider two things. One is packaging the items in a way that would lessen the probability of damage during shipping, and clearly marking on the shipping packaging that the contents are fragile. Two, is to consider shipping the items by some carrier other than USPS. If I had realized the package would be delivered via USPS, I would have paid extra for UPS or FedEx, because I don't know if anyone else has had this experience, but the postal carrier who delivers to our neighborhood seems to be bent on destruction. If there is any way he/she can bend, fold, spindle, or mutilate a package in a way that will force it to fit in our mailbox, he/she will.

Update:
The seller replaced the items in a timely manner without requiring the defective items to be returned, which was good. Unfortunately, the item was shipped in the same manner as before, via USPS, in the exact same type of packaging as before, with no indication anywhere on the packaging that the enclosed times were fragile. Fortunately, our mailman randomly decided to leave the package on our doorstep this time, rather than trying to cram it into our mailbox, so it was not damaged in shipping.

The good news is that both glasses are functional. However, the battery cover on the larger glass still doesn't fit as firmly as it ought to, the switches don't click into the various settings in a clean and precise manner, and the plastics manufacture of the handles of both glasses seems in general to be substandard. Also, the smaller magnifying lens has a small flaw in it. The glass is still usable, but I would have expected better from a respected lens manufacturer like Vivitar. Granted, the glasses didn't cost that much for both, but I would have paid more for a better quality product. I bought these glasses based more on ratings and reviews than on price, and frankly I'm surprised they're as well-rated and reviewed as they are.
