Much better quality than the cheaper model I tried first

Much better quality than the cheaper model I tried first
I purchased this as a portable keyboard/ scroll pad to use in my work truck with my laptop, which is mounted on a stand over by passenger seat. I developed significant neck strain twisting over to type and view the monitor. I also purchased a compact, 11.1" LCD monitor that I set on a fabricated stand I can slip onto my steering wheel. Now, everything is in-line with my body position and neck pain has diminished. The keyboard is sturdy and connections stay true in spite of constantly placing and removing it as I move from site to site.

I use this for my HTPC in my living room. I honestly don't like touchpads, but when I am in my recliner, I would not want to have to keep up with a mouse. I have been using this for about two years and every key still works and the housing does not flex. It has been sat on, survived many drops and liquid spills.
I had another brand that was almost identical but the case got flexy, and some keys got intermittent, and finally the cord got a break in it. This one is definitely made better. I like the size, not to big to store, not too small to see the keys. Laptop users will probably master it faster than us PC folk .

My only real gripe is that the touchpad has special behaviors when you tap and drag that are ALMOST intuitive. For instance when an item like a scroll bar is selected, you have to count 1,2,3 elephants so that it will deselect and then you can carry on.

I REALLY WISH it came with instructions on to clarify the touchpad features.

It should be noted that there is no 10 key pad or lights. Not a biggie for me. But, it should also be mentioned that the compactness can throw you off a little even if you type well by touch. Also, a function button activate the number keys and blue coded keys that can be struck by mistake, watch out.

Updated - I just replaced this with an identical item. The one I bought several years ago, I have dropped it, sat on it, typed and used the touchpad with my greasy fingers. My dog has even chewed on it. It is surprisingly well made. I finally dropped it enough that two of the keys would not reattach. Nice quality and durability.

I DO WISH it had some media control. Like a Play and Volume Control. Otherwise it is THE way to control my HTPC.

Not much to say about this keyboard, it works, it's reliable.

I use this keyboard on my FPGA CoCo III+ and it works well.

This keyboard's compact size save me room on my vintage computer desk as well, leaving room for a few vintage computers and a vintage game console.

I've been piecing together a couple of 90s retro gaming rigs (one PIII and one Pentium on an old Belkin switch box), and I needed a *real* PS/2 keyboard (not a USB keyboard with adapter). I have an ancient one very similar to an IBM Model M that I really liked, but it's so wide that by the time I have the main portion of the keyboard centered in front of the monitor, my right arm is extended like mad to reach the mouse. The last time I had a setup like this I was in my early 20s, so that was fine, but now I have shoulder problems and simply couldn't use the system this way. This keyboard is a great solution for both of these needs. It's narrower even that the 15" CRT it sits in front of, so I don't have to wing my arm out at all to reach the mouse. The keys are a bit crowded and a little narrow, but they take only a little time to get used to. (I've certainly used laptop keyboards that were far harder to type on.) They have decent travel and kinetic feedback as well. My only complaint is that it weighs next to nothing, so as you type on it, especially the right side (which is not tethered by the cable) pushes forward unless you're *very* careful. There are only rubber feet on the bottom on the front half of the keyboard. A couple more pennies spent on rubber feet in the back may have kept this problem from presenting, so I think I'll be able to find a way to prevent the slide. I'm still docking the product one star for this, though, because the problem is *immediately* apparent and presumably extremely easy and inexpensive for the manufacturers to fix. On the plus side, though, the more correctly one types, the less the keyboard shifts around, so it does encourage proper typing posture. (In my line of work we'd say of something like this "It's not a bug, it's a feature! Ship it!!!")

Construction does seem to be a cut or two above the usual Wal-Mart grade item. (Not full "industrial strength" suitable for clubbing small animals to death, but good for use by clerks at a point-of-sale station.)

Keys have a good confident feel. Touchpad is responsive. Main downer is the cord is too short; about 30 inches.

By way of comparison, I've had for about three years a USB keyboard with small trackball. Worked great for for controlling the laptop with feet up on the desk. This was a short-format, like the present item - numeric key set in the right side of the qwerty key set, activated by the num-lock key. Never did learn to use it well, just left the num-lock off and used the dedicated number key row.

Main problem was the non-removeable mini-track-ball picking up water or (worse) grease. Best avoid eating while computing with that one. French fries an absolute no-no.

A few months ago, got an inexpensive wireless keyboard with touchpad. Not Blue Tooth; came with a dedicated USB dong-let for the computer. A little too inexpensive. Sometimes the first keystroke gets lost while the thing wakes up. Arrow keys are really squirley - jump up or down ten lines of text, shut down the browser, whatever.

So. This time we go for USB, not wireless. Touchpad, not trackball. Pay a little more for better quality. Would be nice if this keyboard were lighter, but we wanted sturdy, so... Just wish they had put a longer cord on it. Needs a USB extension cable to reach the Compute Stick behind the TV, or even lean back from the lap-top.

The membrane of this keyboard feels moderately above average as far as membrane keyboards go, but the left and right click? I feel as if I'm going to break it just from using it the way it was intended to be used. The entire product barely weights more than a feather and it features a Windows 95 logo on the super key, indicating just how old and crusty this board's design really is. They charge $60 for this, but it feels like it cost $7 to produce it, if even that much. A complete and utter rip off, but I still give it some stars because it is still a fully functional product that can type well. The USB cable it uses to connect is on the shorter side, so if you're not close to your computer be prepared to have an extension cable on hand to make that connection.

Good quality keyboard, keys are much more robust than the standard keyboard. Keys ride up and down on a tube rather than the flimsy clip on keys found on laptops & cheap keyboards. Ideal for use in industrial applications like workshops.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good relacement keyboard if you are short of desk space.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 10, 2016
An ideal keyboard if you have limited desk space being about half the size of a standard keyboard. The keys have a positive feel similar to those of a laptop. For me, the PS2 connection is essential as a USB converter will not work with my KVM switch. The only downside is that it has a US layout which means a bit of a test of memory as to where certain keys are.
