Like most kits, it’s sort of gimmicky. It’s the sort of thing I would give to my child to learn some skills and such. Would I take this kit as my survival kit while out hiking or hunting? Not so much.The knife is a cheap plastic handle with a glass breaker - the sort of thing I would wear in my pocket to work and not care if it got lost or damaged. The multi-tool hammer axe thing – yes, that is an axe head - is generic. Has some utility, but the axe head is a joke . . . probably makes the tool more dangerous than useful.Cordage bracelet has a flint and steel, which is cool, and obviously has cord, which is good. There’s also a tiny toy compass, but if it is all you have, it does point north. The full-sized compass is cub scout grade, but it would be better than nothing. The snowflake wrench feels like cast zinc. Flashlight is ok. The beaners are key chain grade stuff.Surprisingly, the larger flint and steel is more than good enough for teaching and camp, as is the wire saw. Fishing kit is just okay. The little bundle of cord feels redundant with the bracelet, but that’s alright. There are some fire starter cords and a mylar blanket that are decent. I don't think the multi-use tool card is much use past being a bottle opener.If you want to buy something like this to play around with in the woods for skills, it fits that. Great way to evaluate what you would actually use in a real kit. But if you want a real survival kit, put together better-quality items, because when the chips are down, quality counts. 3 stars at best, but 2 stars because of the quality of the items.
