Features

An RCI Cell is an essential part of many air purification systems to eliminate smoke, odors, and reduce airborne contaminants.

  • Proactively sends out friendly oxidants to decontaminate all air & surfaces in a room (unlike other systems that rely on air to passively move through filters).
  • Creates the same oxidation and ionization as naturally occurring sunlight, using UV light.
  • Combines these ionizing properties with photocatalytic reactions of specific rare and noble metals.
  • Compatible with Fresh Air 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 3.0, 3.1 (by EcoQuest), Fresh Air Space (by V.S.L.A.), FreshAir Surround and Everest (by Vollara), and GT3000 and PureAir 3000 (by Greentech Environmental).

The replacement RCI cell I installed in my Fresh Air 2.2 lasted only 1 week. The Fresh Air 2.2 worked fine up to the time the RCI cell quit working, blue light out and "replace RCI cell" message on display. After installing the replacement RCI cell, It worked fine until after about a week of operation, unit still working, but blue light out and "replace RCI cell" message on display. The unit still works, display and controls are in good working order. I e-mailed ECO Quest through web site "contact us" and got no response. I tried the "live chat", with someone who could not understand the problem and was told I needed to replace the whole unit. I left 2 messages at the ECO Quest Phone # listed on web "contact us". It was several days before receiving a call back and an e-mail. Both saying I needed to replace the whole unit. He made no mention of a replacement or to refund my purchase and just ended the call. I guess I will be looking at other air purifiers. I really liked this air purifier but this does not appear to be the same company as before.

The directions with the machine is to replace this every year. I didn't need to do that with the orginial one since it was working well over the years. The original one lasted for eight years so I hope this one will do the same. One thing to be aware of is there are two types of RCI Cells the FreshAir and the other one that my unit used and I was unaware there was a difference. This one works well and does the job with less of a smell than the original one that came with the machine. This one does the job just with less of a smell so I think that is why it's called FreshAir. I'm happy with this product. I'd recommend it if you want less of the outdoor smell the other one produced.

The cell I purchased works well. I think Ecoquest has a monopoly on this part. I should be able to buy a replacement bulb for the unit. I can buy a UV bulb for $10. but can not find a procedure to replace the bulb in the cell.
