I bought a new laptop last year, and I love how quick it is, but the trend these days with laptop and desktop computers alike is that they no longer come with DVD or Blu-Ray drives.
I often use my laptop to watch movies, and it's still useful to me to have the ability to burn data to optical media for long-term storage and to install software with a DVD/Blu-Ray drive.
I was just a bit unsure about whether this would work for my specific case since my laptop is set up in dual boot mode (Linux and Windows 11), with Linux as the operating system that I boot into 99% of the time.
I'm happy to say that this drive is recognized perfectly without problem in Linux, and I've been watching movies using it without a hitch.
The speed of the drive is very good, and it's nice that it supports Blu-Ray for greater capacity disks.
I highly recommend this for the many of you out there who would like to use optical media with either your laptop or desktop computer.
