This is my 3rd MP3 player that I have bought and I’m still having the same issues. Apps would not work giving error messages. Would not charge. Tried to install additional apps but once installed Google play store would recognize it as a rooted device. My son no longer wants it and in the process of returning it.

The first thing you notice when you pick this up is the weight. It feels solid and heavy, like it was meant to last. The outside edge is metal, and the entire time i've had it there isn't a single scratch. Turning it on is also fast, it doesn't take a long time to boot up after it's been powered off, which is an effect of the amount of apps on the device. The launcher is an application called 'Phenix' a launcher that I've never heard of but might be an off-shoot of the spelled-correctly 'Pheonix'. The gallary is the classic gallary of the older versions of android, boasting a limited editing capability and almost no sorting features. The video player is dramatically inferior to literally every other video player I have used. It has no settings, search option, search bar, editing feature, or anything else. You click the video icon, and it shows you whatever videos you have on there, and THAT'S IT. It comes with many music players, such as Pandora, Amazon music, Deezer, and Spotify. All of these must be updated before they can be used, and the Pandora app comes niftily pre-set to the Chinese language. It has no problems connecting to the apps once it has connected to the internet, although Play Store is default hidden from the home screen. The only way to access Play Store so that you can update the apps is to sign into your Google account so you can go to the web version of playstore, install another home launcher ( I used Nova ) and it will be back on the homescreen. Once that is enabled, you can pretty much install and uninstall whatever you want. All this comes with the low price of giving a generic company potential access to your information. THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO PUT APPS ON THIS DEVICE. Trust me, I have tried everything. Apk's are banned by the system settings, which you can't change back. If you are a hacker, and want to try using the Android Debugging Bridge, I would forget it because even though it is android, they have somehow turned off the developer options and you cannot access any of the handy tools through there. Last but not least, the memory card that they sent with the player. It was amazing while I loaded about 8 GB's of videos and music and then when I put it into the MP3 player, it said it was not recognized. I reformatted it, and it still wasn't recognized. So, if you want more than 16 GB of storage than youll probably have to buy another SD card. The earbuds that they sent with it were nice (metal) and the case was well...it could've been better (silicon that covered the home button). The FM radio works as well you just need to have a pair of wired earbuds or headphones to plug into. Overall, It's very nice, feels great, and can be customized pretty much as far as you want.

I really struggled with this review, because it isn't what I expected - but do I judge it on that? If not, how do I judge it fairly? It does have a nice screen, it played every movie format I threw at it, and it played all my music. The battery life is great - it sounds good - but it seems to me this is sold as an MP3 player, and to me the interface to do that isn't as useful as a first generation iPod.

At the end of the day it is an Android OS, and the default music player that comes on it is just OK, but if that's the case - how does it beat my phone?

It's also small, heavy and slippery. Dollars to donuts I break this thing if I use it at the gym or something.
