It was time to replace the 20-foot antennae when the fraying over time exposed the cord going into the dock. This is a perfect fit to have a four-foot length of cord that isn't getting tangled up. It appears the plug into the port is very sturdy hoping to see a long life with it. I had this docking station before XM came along.

I've complained for years about the lack of quality on Sirius XM radios, even writing the company and telling them I'd be willing to pay $5 more dollars for a couple of more strands of copper. The other options were "trucker" versions where the wire was so thick it couldn't really be used on a standard passenger vehicle. This antenna is PERFECT. The cable is nice and thick, but not so thick it can't be routed. The quality is so good I'm now keeping a good signal in areas where I used to loose contact, such as under trees and overpasses. I can't believe it's the same price. You'll notice the quality as soon as you open the package. The spindly wire on the antenna included with the radio is a joke by comparison, and even the antenna part is just a little larger which may be just the boot it needed. I didn't rate if it was easy to install, because it's going to be different for everyone. I put mine in our Odyssey, running from the rear hatch all the way across the van to the radio up front... it took me a little over an hour, but I wouldn't say it was difficult.

I have gone through two Sirius original antennas but tried this model for my third replacement. Reception has been very good with a few minutes of dropped reception. The signal loss is more of a terrain issue and not the fault of the antenna.

Installation is easy with the dock plug-in port and the magnet holds the external piece securely to my car roof. I have two cars and transfer the radio and cables between them depending on travel.

The biggest difference I see is the 8 ft. cable is more substantial than the original cables. The docking jack portion has a blue, reinforced collar that should provide longer life. My past two original antenna cables weakened at this point and the wires broke. Since I have been using it for about a week, I am giving it 4-stars for durability.

I think this cable will last longer and should prove the durability to be 5-stars. If this occurs, which looks like it will, this cable would be a 5-Star product all the way.

The gauge of the cable is a bit thicker and other antenna cable that I've purchased before...and a bit more flexible.
And the fact that it's only 4 foot ...it's alot easier to set up then the standard 10 or so footage of cable that you usually get and never use. It works great plain ans simple.
