I can finally listen to my NPR station in my bedroom! And it’s as clear as a bell!!! I live too far away to pick up my station with my digital house sound system …with no antenna.
The PRUNUS J120 is about the size of a carton of Breyers Ice Cream, so not ridiculously small as to look like a toy. I love the styling, the color, the front face grill and simple tuning and on/off knobs- even the carry handle is well incorporated, mimicking the overall shape of the radio and not just a silly little hand loop stuck on top.
It reminds me of something my Grampa would of had on a shelf in his old workshop.
Sound is clear, certainly loud enough. I haven’t used any other features yet because I wanted an AM/FM radio with a retro look. The only thing I miss with this design and would like to see- is a soft amber light/glow in the tuning area. I think that would look really cool. I actually found and bought a second radio, (since I liked this one so much) for the living room-but went with a design that had the amber dial light. We’ll see if it measure up to this one, due to arrive at the end of the week.
Super happy with my PRUNUSJ120, it’s the perfect size, with great styling, more features than I need and clear sound on every station. Fits perfectly on my nightstand.

Il controllo di volume è molto preciso e lineare, molto meglio di quello del modello J-160, che comunque rimane accettabile.
Una cosa a mio parere migliorabile è la regolazione della sintonia, che avrei preferito un po’ demoltiplicata e meno critica.
Qui nel milanese la gamma FM è sovraffollata, e risulta non facile sintonizzarsi su una determinata stazione. Basta infatti una impercettibile rotazione della manopola per passare da una stazione all’altra.
Ad esempio, una volta individuata in qualche modo RAI 1, può essere difficile poi trovare RAI2 o RAI3, o altre determinate stazioni, talmente tante sono le radio private interposte, una addosso all’altra. Ma questa difficoltà nella ricerca di determinate stazioni FM nella mia zona si presentava anche con le radio degli anni ottanta, che questa radio imita, e quindi non deve essere considerato un suo difetto. Con un po’ di pratica comunque va anche detto che si riesce a centrare perfettamente ogni singola stazione, evitando le interferenze dei canali adiacenti.
Nella mia zona i segnali sono poi talmente forti che non ho bisogno nemmeno di estendere l’antenna.
Ottimo è il tipo di batteria installato, il 18650 agli ioni di litio.
E’ una batteria molto comune, a 3,7 volt, che viene usata ampiamente anche su torce di una certa classe, e dura parecchio.
Se poi si aggiunge che questa radio funziona anche come cassa bluetooth, costando addirittura meno di tante mini-casse bluetooth, direi che dalla J-120 non si potrebbe certo chiedere di più, avendola pagata solo 34 euro.
Ottima anche l’estetica e le rifiniture.
A mio parere può essere regalata anche ad una persona anziana, che probabilmente le ricorderà con piacere le radio della sua giovinezza, ormai finite chissà dove. Tuttavia, per facilitarle la ricerca delle stazioni e per l'uso pratico, le abbinerei anche una moderna radio DAB con i canali principali memorizzati su tasti o su telecomando. Ammesso che non la possieda già. Personalmente non ci vedo la mia mamma novantenne destreggiarsi tra decine di emittenti private per rintracciare il giornale radio.
Concludendo, direi che questa radio è un ottimo acquisto per le molteplici funzioni che possiede:
