Great Solution for Hyper X Cloud Stinger on OSX

I needed an economic workaround for auditioning sound samples on my R340 Poweredge server that had no sound card. I also was having regular issues with Audio driver conflicts on my Ryzen 5 PC workstation. This worked literally out of the box. Initially I thought it was cheap and weak by the lightness of components and high initial background noise when I connected my headphones. But that feeling changed when the audible noise dropped off and my Windows 10 PC quickly installed “PnP Audio Device” and worked immediately without need to logout or reboot the system. I absolutely love it now and showed it off to my neighbors as a marvel of modern technology. Later I will see if it will work with my different Audio editing and VSTi host software.

I bought this cable to replace a USB sound card cable for my favorite pair of headphones, and as soon as I switched the cables, there was a constant low buzzing audible. This buzzing plays constantly, even when no other sounds are playing, and started to give me a headache within 15 minutes of use. I switched back to my previous cable since it is still better with occasional disconnects than this cable. I very highly do not recommend.

I'm using this to plug an headset into a laptop and have decent volume control. I do like that it helps extend the length of the cord AND allows me to turn volume up and down. I did not forsee that the voice volume (in addition to the convenient mute button) would sometimes cause issues. For the price I'm not going to complain much, but often when I first turn on the computer if I get into voice, I must turn up the voice volume or no one can hear me. I never had to do this with the other headsets I have and I don't have to do it on my desktop with discord so I believe it is the device. The sound quality is very nice and people have commented that I am very clear. So overall its a great little external sound connector for the price!

It's just "Virtual" Surround Sound, not the real thing

I did not expect much and I did not get much from this device. It does exactly what it said it does: it provides a USB sound card that works not only with Windows, but with the Playstation 4 and other devices, too. That's pretty nice.

I was the most curious about the surround sound, since, acoustically speaking, surround sound simulation should be possible in headphones with the right decoder and software setup. This has no decoder. Pushing its so-called "7.1" button just applies some basic audio filters (stereo separation enhancement, a low pass filter, and bass boost) and calls it a day. Maybe some people like that, but as a minor audiophile I just think it sounds weird. Leave it turned off.

The rest, though? Works as advertised. It's even the first device that works properly with my headset mic. That's a big bonus. Just stay away from the 7.1 button.
